thinking about how this is the first thing Samura says to Shiba upon seeing him again. took you long enough, Shiba. took you long enough (he didn't get there in time to save Kunishige). took you long enough (to do the one thing Samura entrusted to someone else). took you long enough (to show up for Chihiro, and he's damn lucky Samura didn't actually want him dead because Shiba wouldn't have gotten there in time to save him either)

i feel like different "groups" of cubitos probably speak different dialects of the same shared language, so you end up with pvp minecraftian and redstoner minecraftian and speedrunner minecraftian and parkour minecraftian and etc where they all use slightly different words and slightly different meanings

been thinking about the group of smplive players that will just say things like bm and sweat and bowspam vs the ones that don't come from a pvp background and are just baffled

the linguistics-interested part of my brain wants to look at common patterns between the way players speak - the pvp oriented guys in smplive all tend to have a very snarky, raunchy type of speech that often uses a lot of slang, nonsense phrases and dropped words

"sweaty", "bm", "tryhard", "gapples", "gg", "gank", "ffa" are all really common among these guys and less so among the other members of the server.

spleef is referenced a lot in casual conversation, as are random famous figures in older pvp/uhc scenes (like poke's spleggbaby build that pisses cooper off, that's because it's a monument to another uhc player and cooper thinks it's dumb)

just really interesting, cool stuff to play with for worldbuilding

if you ascribe to the minecraft as one big universe theory, there's also fun to be had in cubitos that might be fluent in multiple dialects... like tapl is someone who would probably be fluent in both speedrunner minecraftian and pvp minecraftian (specifically the uhc type that the smplive guys speak, he was in the same circles as them back in the day)
