Nader told me that usually he would go visit his family for Eid, but this year is different.
Nader @abdalsalam2000 is only seventeen years old, and has been working hard every day to fundraise for his family which includes his father Ahmed who has cancer and urgently needs treatment, and his one year old niece Iman. After being displaced more than nine times, they were finally able to return to their home in Northern Gaza after the ceasefire came into effect in january, only to find their childhood home and everything they had destroyed.
I’ve been helping Nader with his campaign for several months, and I want to tell you that he is a very kind, hard working young man with many dreams and things he wants to do, that the occupation has taken from him. He’s only seventeen and should be in school, but he has to spend his time trying to ask for help online instead just for the survival of his family. This is difficult work, but of course he does it because he loves his family. Him and his family deserve food, safety, and happiness. Please show him that we care about them and that we are listening and see what is happening to them
Their previous campaign was very close to reaching their goal thanks to all of Nader’s hard work reaching out to people for help and advocating for his family and spreading information about the events in Gaza as it was happening, but gofundme stopped transfers from that campaign and they had to start over.
If you have anything to give today, your donation would mean the world to them. You have a chance to help support this family through this. Losing the first gofundme was a devastating blow to their campaign, but you can help them by supporting this one to make up for the lost funds.
€11,430 raised out of 50,000! they are at 23% of their goal, let’s help Nader and his family get to 25% soon!

I am personally running this campaign, so you can be sure that 100% of your donation will go directly to this family.
If for any reason you can't donate to the chuffed campaign, you can give via venmo (@gothhabiba) or cashapp ($NajiaK) with note "🍊" or "orange."

Help a young dad of two toddlers in غaza! 🌸
🌱 For a year I’ve been in contact with H, a young dad who is doing his best to keep his two toddlers alive after the destruction of their home.
🌱 H is a delightful, shy, sweet person, who always sends me the latest about his adorable little ones, updates on his family’s wellbeing, and, on Fridays, his prayers for my health.
🌱 They are terrified but persisting in hope. After months in a crowded tent, your support got them medical treatment after a life-threatening injury; food and supplies; and some shelter in an apartment, which has been crucial to their survival, especially protecting the kids from hypothermia and the whole family through numerous illnesses and medical emergencies.
Your help has truly saved this family more than once. Our task is simple—keeping this sweet family housed another month.
H’s family has requested privacy regarding their names & images and has requested I handle raising funds for them. I send all funds directly to them (and cover any fees myself). You can see all donations and my transactions to them in the doc below.

Remember when AOC said this. The elitism is so explicit with identifying political conviction and academia too
If you believe this, you are voluntarily abandoning the frameworks that make revolutionary movements both understandable and materially possible. Why would a Democratic Party politician decry those who dare to read more into Marxist theory? Why would she then weaponize her own Latin American heritage to convince you that poor and working-class Latin American people haven’t been at the heart of countless anti-imperialist movements throughout the past century alone?
I don’t think that’s what she’s saying at all. I think she’s saying that she DID have political thoughts and opinions, but when she was younger (and poorer) she didn’t have access to the education that would teach her the proper lexicon to let her speak of them in (English-speaking) American politics. I think she’s saying that she’s absolutely socialist, and that she has been reading more and more as she grew up and became more educated; but because of her poor, working class background and late start learning the “proper lexicon”, other politicians are looking down on her and saying she’s less educated than them, and thus less qualified to speak on these matters.
I think you should reread what I wrote before accusing anyone of “pissing on the poor”; if anyone is minimizing the intellect and capability of poor people, it’s AOC. My farmworker grandfather, who dropped out of school in the 6th grade to pick food full-time along with his entire family, was an autodidact. He helped organize the California grape strikes in the 60s. He never went back to school, although he emphasized the absolute importance of education to all of my siblings and cousins. To this day, I have never met a more prolific reader.
I’m sure AOC would dismiss him as bougie for daring to have political conviction, and fully forming that political conviction by reading. And then: to act and organize based on that knowledge. God forbid!
