i honestly don’t think barry and iris ever knew the extent of the abuse wally suffered as a child. they knew his parents were difficult ppl to get along with and that wally wasn’t happy at home. they’ve said as much. but neither of them saw rudy or mary that often. and wally can’t even acknowledge the abuse to himself, much less to others. the tragedy of it is if they had known they would have done everything in their power to get him out of that house. but if he were to tell them now they would blame themselves for not knowing then. even if wally were to come to terms with his abuse one day, he’d still feel the need to keep it a secret.

jo - daughter of themis. places a lot of importance on justice, the law, and integrity

this is like. purely based off my own headcanon so i’m gonna sound delusional but i feel like it’s so important that kyle looks nothing like maura. at least not at first glance. like maybe when you really look at them you can see the similarities in the smiles, nose, cheeks, eye shape, etc but in terms of coloring they couldn’t be further apart. as per her original appearance (i hate you winick for giving her a blond bob and lipo…) she has fair skin auburn hair and green eyes while kyle has black hair brown eyes and at the very least tan skin. i feel like looking at the only parent you have and not being able to see yourself at all really adds so much to their dynamic between the disconnect he feels and her looking at him and seeing gabriel every time.
also does anyone else think about how they were poor. like the only job maura could get was as a cleaning lady and they lived in a trailer for a while. and yet she always found a way to give kyle all the things he wanted like his room was full of toys and comics and she paid for his karate lessons and art lessons and whatever else he was obsessed with at the time. she set a box on fire in the yard so he could put it out with the hose because he wanted to be a firefighter…she truly tried her absolute hardest to give him everything and the saddest thing is that she tried so hard it drove him away…

#i’m extrapolating like crazy here but i’m pretty sure it’s also mentioned at one point that maura has a sister + other family back home#so to make things worse#he has this whole white European extended family#who could very well see him as this kind of bastard child who’s father violently abused his mother based on maura’s cover story#some ppl may disagree on their interpretation of kyle’s coloring but this is mine#and most importantly there is canonical precedence for it so 🤷♀️
