❀ hi y'all!

I'm a scientist (?) who's here to yell about things and write fully self-indulgent fanfiction during my downtime. I've got an eclectic and inconsistent mix of fandoms, including Stardew Valley, Leverage, Death Note, Pacific Rim, Fall Out Boy, and Jurassic Park. Please let me know if you need anything tagged.

Stars The Same As Ever (Hallmark AU) T+ | Ongoing | Sebastian/Farmer, Sam/Maru Big-city programmer Sebastian is home for Winter Star, and Pelican Town has changed since he left. Abby is married. Sam’s band has an obnoxiously friendly new keyboardist. Maru is clearly keeping a big secret from their parents, not that he cares.

In an effort to avoid hanging out with a family he doesn't mesh with and a friend group he no longer feels secure in, he proposes an arrangement with Ava (local farmer, town hero, and overcommitted disaster): He'll help out on the farm to avoid his social commitments, and she'll get an extra hand with her overwhelming list of holiday tasks. Buckle up for a Hallmark-inspired Stardew fic, complete with accidental fake dating, holiday angst, and plenty of humor and fluff.

We Didn't Start The Fire (Superhero AU) T+ | 161k | Sebastian/Farmer, Leah/Abigail Ava is a burned-out superhero, literally— she sets a dumpster fire at her soul-crushing JojaCo job, and has to blame her alter-ego to get out of it. With nothing left to lose, she moves to Stardew Valley for a new start... But her partner in vigilante justice, the hacker known as Memento, is convinced she's been framed, and he will stop at nothing to prove her innocence, as long as he doesn't fall for the cute farmer who just moved in down the road, first.

Flu Game (Hanahaki AU) T+ | 32k | Sebastian/Farmer The cure to Ava's hanahaki is straightforward: Painkillers, as needed, and an honest heart-to-heart chat with Sebastian about the big embarrassing crush she's been trying to ignore for several months now. She decides to try getting over it on her own with secondhand talk therapy and avoidance, instead. Nothing can possibly go wrong.

Am I More Than You Bargained For Yet? T+ | 12k | Sebastian/Ava Bonus prequel to WDSTF! Sebastian goes on his first superhero mission as a hacker, and nothing goes according to plan.

Permission Statement

I welcome transformative work of my fanfiction! This includes fanart, fics, podfics, translations, and fanbinding. You definitely don't need to ask for my permission, but I would appreciate it if you linked to the fic it was based off of (via the "Inspired by" AO3 link, or via a link in the notes or caption).

I do not approve transformative work of my fanfiction that involves use of generative AI; this includes, for example, most large language models such as ChatGPT, podcast/voice AI, or AI art generators.

Also, no obligation, but if you do happen to create something inspired by one of my fics somewhere, I'd love to see it! You can shoot me an ask here if you want to show me the cool stuff you made!

should be able to leave kudos on scientific studies. i liked your paper dude keep at it

sorry, Dr. Dude

Dude et. al.

need y'all to know that most academics have publicly searchable email addresses and this not only makes their day but they can put nice emails in their giant packets for applying for jobs or tenure. "hi i read your paper for a class and it was very helpful, im at xyz college and the class is blah with professor blah" is sufficient and ENORMOUSLY helpful

what kind of person do i wanna be is probably the question i've asked myself the most in life even still at 30 years old. i think you should never stop asking yourself and making sure you're working to be that person even if other things feel off/weird/out of control. what kind of person do you wanna be! do you treat others in accordance with that! do you navigate the world with the intention of being this kind of person!

i honestly feel we give up on ourselves too easily. so you're not who you wanna be right now and that doesn't mean you have to accept it as futile and refuse to keep trying. there's always more life to live, there's always more you to discover.

people talk about their writer friends stealing their weird habits or borrowing backstories but what you don't know is that we will steal your house. layout location garden colour scheme décor the whole lot. i have childhood friends with entire abodes immortalised in my stories. i have people i met once who would be able to recognise ancient six-month lease domiciles from a decade and a half ago. i'm in your house i'm in your blueprints and i am taking the lot.

You are a fan of internationally-acclaimed K-pop group Huntrix. They drop a new single to wild success and its debut performance is canceled without clear explanation. Huntrix's management says something about a medical condition with the lead singer.

At the same time a new boyband debuts with a song that tops all the charts. The boyband doesn't seem to have a management company. Or names. Maybe that doesn't matter because their sound IS catchy. Huntrix is completely out of the public eye except for two appearances alongside this new boyband where they are there exclusively to beef. It's maybe a PR stunt. It's maybe because Rumi is exes with one of the only two named members of the Saja Boys.

People start going missing at a rate 4x the national average. You probably wouldn't even know about this except that 3 of the missing people were big names on Stan Twitter so it's kind of a big deal. There are four different high-traction posts claiming all the recent missing people were Saja Boy fans. But that's like claiming all the recent missing people drank water and breathed air.

Rumi is still on medical leave but Huntrix management is saying Huntrix WILL be at the K-pop Awards. Someone on Twitter's uncle's friend works in a recording studio and he says Huntrix is debuting a song which tells the Saja Boys to die. The exes theory gets a lot of traction. Twitter tries to doxx Jinu to confirm the theory but no one can figure out who he is. Twitter tries to doxx the other Saja Boys to the same lack of success. One account said she had "a lead" but her Twitter has been silent for 72 hours since.

Rumi is back from medical leave for the K-pop Awards just in time to have a massive falling-out and break-up on stage. This probably devastated you but you don't really remember it. The Saja Boys invite everyone to a concert. A lot of people who went don't remember going, and you'd call that suspicious except you also went and don't remember going.

Somehow no one in the crowd of 10,000 thought to record the concert on their phone. Maybe there was a "no phones" rule but usually there are still leaks. No one has any video or photo evidence of this concert happening. However you all collectively remember hearing "What It Sounds Like" at the concert (before it debuted 4 days later from Huntrix's label.) This does not make a lot of sense because this was a Saja Boys concert, supposedly. Someone says they saw Zoey impale at least one of the Saja Boys. You would brush this off as a stupid rumor but 2-dozen other people are saying the same thing and you a little bit remember it too.

There's a lot of people saying "Let's wait for an official statement from the Saja Boys" on Twitter but they've been saying that for 2 weeks now and no one has seen or heard from them since the concert. There's a lot of people saying "Zoey killed them fr" which was a joke at first and now, is not not a joke, but it hits a little different.

Most of you are kinda over SB Twitter at this point so you kind of don't care anymore but there are a few remaining fans who've doubled down on the doxxing effort to figure out if they're okay. It's not going well. One person claims to have found Jinu's identity but everyone thinks she's stupid because that guy died literally 400 years ago. YES the royal court's painting of him looks identical and yes that guy was a singer too, but come on, the K-pop look is 90% make-up anyway.

last rb lots of people seem to view inspirations as a template your copying rather than a ingredient in your new evil stew. if you tell me your new shonen manga is inspired by dragon ball i’ll think youre a dipshit but if you tell me your cartoon network lesbians are inspired by dbz i’ll be neurotic about them within the first season

you need to be a glutton if you restrict your diet to the genre you want to emulate you’ll starve. steal everything not nailed down. come back for the nailed stuff. kin every woman that smiles evily and copy their mannerisms

it's fair to argue that jinu's character regression before his heel-face turn is solely caused by gwi-ma's emotional manipulation and his own struggle to overcome shame, but we also have: "the saja boys are fighting! that means you're on now!"

i don't think that fight was staged. i think it was real.

jinu's original plan was to steal the fans and leverage rumi's shame to destroy HUNTR/X. this doesn't require HUNTR/X to go on first. in fact, the saja boys would benefit from going on first, given that a good performance will grow their fanbase (and consequently the number of souls they can steal). there is no reason for them to switch up the schedule unless jinu refused to go onstage, or did something else to sabotage the performance, like he and rumi planned.

additionally, none of the demons who participate in the false flag operation are the saja boys. all five are conspicuously missing. when we do see jinu again, it's well after the end of takedown, and he looks much worse than he did at the end of his last scene with gwi-ma.

"the saja boys are fighting" and bobby treats it like a regular argument between bandmates, but that's all it needs to be to take jinu down, isn't it? his shame makes him easy to manipulate. remind him that he abandoned his family, and jinu is down for the count, trapped in the idea that his past mistakes mean he can't be better now, willing to betray someone he loves if it means he gets to live a more comfortable life just like he did last time

rumi is rejected and shamed (both publicly and privately) by her friends, lover, and mentor and, in the face of that, chooses to keep trying to live up to her own ideals, clinging adamantly to the belief that while shame is a part of her, it isn't all she is.

jinu is a great foil for rumi regardless, but i find it really interesting and compelling if the voice that ultimately convinces him he's irredeemable isn't gwi-ma's, but the collective voice of his bandmates—each of whom, being demons-who-were-once-human, also hold their own shame, and, by arguing that jinu can never be redeemed, are saying the same of themselves.
