I saw this bag on eBay once and was curious about what the text on the bag said. I bought one and took a few photos.

Someone posted a link to this Ruby Gloom animation on /co/.

At first I thought it was a fan animation but after a quick google search it turns out that this is official. In 2003 Mighty Fine (the company that created Ruby Gloom) commissioned this animation to test Ruby Gloom as an animated series. It was this short that caused Nelvana to pick up Ruby Gloom and eventually turn it into the show we know and love today.

Ruby Gloom was an apparel franchise before becoming a show. It was much more melancholy in tone and Ruby was really gloomy back then. Here are a few pictures from that era of the franchise.

A page from Ruby Gloom Key's to Happiness featuring Misery.

Below is the concept art for the picture. From what I can gather from early Ruby Gloom merchandise (this was an actual design), Misery was meant to be a ghost of some sort.

I'm working on scanning both Ruby Gloom books in higher quality. The glossy pages don't scan very well.

Ruby Gloom's Keys to Happiness Scan

Very recently the Ruby Gloom fan blog uploaded a scan of two pages of Ruby Gloom's Keys to Happiness and I think it's one I made and posted on another site a while back.

I've got the who book scanned in a similar quality (the glossy pages don't scan well). Would anyone be interested in I uploaded them somewhere?

Here's an obscure bit of the Ruby Gloom franchise, Ruby's first and only comic book appearance back in 2004's Deady the Terrible Teddy.
