Hey what if people you outlived could leave behind ghosts of themselves but they would be imperfect and incomplete and ignorant of how their story ended, would that be fucked up or what?

(Don't worry, returning to the funny in the next one)

No Time Left to Wait

Summary: In this AU Order 66 isn't enacted and the Jedi are able to defeat Palpatine. Once the war is over, Cody can only think of seeing Obi Wan and confessing his long held secret feelings. But is this the right time?

Excerpt:

Cody ran his hands over his face, suddenly aware of the noise in the hallway. He jumped out of his bunk, pulled on his blacks and secured his armor at lightning speed. He holstered his blaster, tucked his bucket under his arm and hit the door release. Pandemonium had erupted in the corridor. Troopers ran past him. Were they under attack? โ€œHey, whatโ€™s going on?โ€ he said, grabbing a passing clone he didnโ€™t recognize. The clone grinned, and Cody realized belatedly he only wore half of his armor. โ€œThe war. Itโ€™s over.โ€ He said before charging down the hallway and tackling another clone. Cody froze. It was over. He had survived. He fell back against the door and let out a breath, as though he had been holding it the whole war. Obi Wan. Why his mind instantly went to his General he didnโ€™t know. He paused. Yes, he did. He no longer had to deny how he felt about Obi Wan. His General. His Jedi. Hisโ€ฆeverything. It was too early to know what would happen to the clones and their commanders, but Codyโ€™s relief was short lived. The knot in his stomach returned but this time it wasnโ€™t fear of a battle or a loss. It was a fear that things would never be the same again. That he would no longer stand at Obi Wanโ€™s side. No longer be there to pick up his dropped lightsaber or give him an exasperated look when he ran headfirst into danger. No longer there for the quiet moments when they were alone, as their hands met accidentally over the desk. What would Cody do if he couldnโ€™t see Obi Wan every day? There should have been many more pressing things on his mind. What would happen to him and his brothers? Would they be returned to Kamino? Bought and sold as private security or mercenaries? Would they stay with the Jedi? Would the Jedi want them? Would his Jedi want him? The weight of the unknown was suddenly too much to bear, and he only had one thought. He had to talk to Obi Wan. Now.
