i respect innie mark for saving gemma at the very least and the romantic in me understands why he chose to stay in hell with helly but it ALSO needs to be understood by both him and every single person in this series that gemma’s feelings come first because no one has suffered more than her and if that’s a hard pill to swallow well then so be it
i hate problems. everything should work out perfectly all of the time
the whole episode was spent establishing that mark s is his own person with his own life and that love does not, actually, transcend severance, and he knows that he’s gonna have to go upstairs eventually so he doesn’t have much time left and of course he’s going to want to spend it with the woman he loves, and people are still like “hehehe sorry gemma markhelly won” and I feel like I’m going insane. mark s/helly won. mark scout/gemma won. they just hammered it into us that innie and outie mark both have lives with the same value!!! this isn’t a ship war!!! Im gonna lose it!!! please go read frankenstein!!!
the idea that dressed boring/plain means a person is boring is well... uh. ok. i'm going to be nice. some of us don't live in outfit world.
obsessed with how milchick's arc culminated in a showstopper. going to be thinking about it for a long time.
ppl for weeks watching him squirm and writhe under lumon's grasp & speculating (myself included) that he'd just fucking snap and crashout and maybe be the one to shove drummond into a wall.
but he's not violent! he's not a brute like drummond and his vocabulary isn't limited to single syllables either. he was never going to get violent. his arc this season was about folly, about growing up, about trying to eradicate every scrap of joy deemed childish. until realising that if work really is just work, he should get to do something for himself. so he fucking did.
even early on it became clear milchick's arc was a personal thing, that even though he was struggling against lumon management he wasn't really gaining any more empathy for MDR than he already did. so i was curious how he'd be able to actualise his dissent for lumon without a-little-too-conveniently becoming an MDR ally.
so for it to be... this. just. fuck everyone, fuck it all, i'm putting on the greatest fucking show this town has ever seen for myself and two people who are gonna be dead tomorrow morning in a basement that won't exist two weeks from now. character of all time.
