If Gears canonly is Kain’s vet, I think bro would end up caring fir the rest of the researchers’ pets. Even if Kain is yk, anomalous, someone is bound to ask him to check out their puppers or cat. He would do it without complaint, even perhaps happy to use this skill so he can take better care of his friend.

All this to say that eventually Glass is taking Mr. Mittens to Gears for monthly checkups.
