Help I procrastinated ringbarking this stupid thing for too long and now I'm emotionally attached to its struggle for survival

Why can't you keep it? (I assume you have a very good reason for not keeping it, and I'm just curious)

Mostly because I don't want it to grow new fuckoff huge branches that it'll threaten to drop onto my house every winter. Also I want to build a garden and chicken coop extension here so I'd rather not have another complicated limb removal situation in ten years with buildings in the way.

"Too close to house" is fair, especially when there's other habitat around; it's not like you're cutting down the last big tree and you seem like someone who'd make a balanced decision about that.

The area has plenty of big trees. See those two over the neighbour's fence?

I also have just an entire wall of them three trees deep down the back of my yard. Just a lil forest back there. Most of the houses on my street do, and because we each have a couple of fruit trees it's a food and habitat corridor back there where every fucking bird in the state has decided to live. Just a big long strip of Bird Paradise.

Oh that ground is dry dirt and patches of crab grass. The only place where ground vegetation is thriving is the footpath there where I would prefer it not to.

It likes the footpath because water runs down there when I water the herbs and strawberries I think. Water access and heat exposure are the killers here. Despite it being THE MIDDLE OF FUCKING AUTUMN.

Tree's got its arteries in its skin.

Correct me if I'm not wrong but the water and food transport lines running up and down the tree are mostly towards the outside

Basically the innermost parts of the tree are dead heartwood(old xylem tissues) and the outermost parts are the bark and stuff

Between these layers there's a bit that's actually doing the transport of the food and water. Ringbarking I assume is cutting that stuff so that the tree dies?

One of the posts of the fence is precarious because they’ve eaten it like beavers. We wrapped wire around the remaining trees in the field so they would Stop Fucking Eating Them

The horse corrals at our polocrosse grounds would always have semicircular chunks missing from the top bars where bored horses would just eat them while waiting around
