Do you have any advice for making adopts?

my biggest advice is references are your friend, dont be afraid to pull inspiration from anywhere around you! websites with color palettes are generally very helpful if you are ok spending a little time scrolling for the right one unfortunately for me i grew up online in the sphere of adoptables on deviantart back in 2012-2017 rroughlyyy??? so this is kind of just nailed into my brain, but every time i see something that interests me my brain tends to try and mash it with my interests (pokemon having always been my special interest) for example ; i just looked around my room, and my eyes focused on a pair of shorts in the laundry basket... half of the shorts are black half of the shorts have a checkerboard pattern with hearts in the white squares, this is a pattern i greatly enjoy, and would love to see ON something else i greatly enjoy, such as a mew! or an eevee! OH ALSO! back to colors again. not only is a good palette important but knowing where to place the colors is imperative to the design... i suggest trying out some grey scale art pieces, learn and figure out the best placements for the color blocks, and then add the colors on top! my favorite palettes are generally 4-5 colors, i prefer bright and vivid colors but working outside your comfort zone with art is important!!! dont be afraid to try jewel tones, pastels, neutral colors and so on. it really takes a lot of feeling around, kind of like picking out fruit? sniff sniff squeeze... nah not this one too hard... sniff sniff squeeze... ohh, now this i can work with. ya see? i really hope that makes sense...
