The weather was moody, thunderstorms and falling droplets graced the lands. Calming to some, terrifying to others. For you, it was the latter. You were in a very deep slumber on this very day however and your boyfriend had immersed himself in the same melody he had trained for hours on end earlier along with a steamy hot shower after returning from his tiring dance practice sessions. After relaxing his tensed muscles and clearing his mind, he got out of the shower and got dressed with a simple black hoodie and sweatpants. Nothing out of the ordinary to every other reoccurring day in the couples life. He went to make himself a cup of warm coffee to add to the warmth of his body on this chilly day. 

The atmosphere of your bedroom however was unlike the peaceful, brightly lit and warm surrounding of your entire shared apartment. It felt dark, cold and the feeling of uneasiness filled the room. Your deep slumber would soon be interrupted by the horrific nightmare that filled your head. Jumping up from the bed, you were greeted with darkness as the room was darkly lit. It was nothing odd as it has always helped you sleep better in a dimly lit room. Yunho would always turn off the lights for you whenever he came home to you asleep with the lights on. These days however, it was your deepest fear. The thing is, your sister had just passed away recently and you’ve been trying to cope with the reality of it. She was your best friend. You couldn’t accept the fact that she left so soon. It came as a huge shock for you. Even though all your families and friends have been reaching out to comfort and share their condolences with you, it did not help the lingering pain that still resides within you. You acted like you were getting better and made it seem like you were moving on to not cause any worry to your loved ones who were already suffering on their own. To your boyfriend however, you could not hide such things from him. He could read you like an open book. So it was undeniable that Yunho has been the biggest support and comfort you could ever have that was effective for you in this traumatizing part of your life and you were extremely grateful for him. He has done so much for you and had been very selfless throughout everything. Not to mention, he has always been very attentive towards you as well. You could name a million things on why he’s such a gem to you to be honest.

Now apart from waking up to a nightmare regarding the death of your sibling, you were also surrounded by the presence of lightning rumbling loudly outside your secluded bedroom. This not only caused your heart to start pumping like crazy but also shorten your breaths. Your mind was in a blank state. The sound of your heartbeat increasing its pace by every second was all you could hear and with every breath of yours getting shortened you started to feel light headed. You knew your boyfriend would be out in the living room during this time, so you tried getting out of bed to try reaching for the door knob to hopefully get Yunho’s assistance when your vision starts to blur. However, once you’ve lifted yourself off the very support holding your body up, you collapsed to the ground not moving even an inch from the bed. Your legs were extremely weak as if they had no bones in them whatsoever. All you could do at this point was hold yourself up with the palm of your hand pushed against the floor and call out for Yunho breathlessly.

In Yunho’s situation however, he was already on high alert at the sound of the loud thump that came from their shared bedroom where he knew his girlfriend was currently resting in. He hurriedly placed down his cup of coffee that he had been consuming earlier on the coffee table and his handphone aside on the couch, before getting up and heading straight to the shared bedroom. He twisted the door knob and pushed open the door slightly to avoid disturbing you at first, but when he saw you on the ground, he did not hesitate to push the door open and let himself into the bedroom. In a few steps, he was at your aid.  Kneeling down right next to you while immediately caressing your back with one hand, the other starts to lift your head up by placing his hand softly on your cheek. “hey, hey.. what’s wrong babe?” he asked when your eyes met his. You could only stutter a few words as your body was barely holding on. You could see worry plastered all over his face despite your vision being blurred, especially his beautiful round eyes filled with concern for you. 

He took no time to immediately grab you and keep you by his side. One of his hand caressed your back while the other was wrapped around the back of your head keeping you near his chest. He held you in his bigger body as if you were a piece of glass, ready to shatter at any moment. “baby, deep breaths” ,“I’m right here” ,“everything is alright love” ,“breathe with me” was all he kept saying while he soothe you endlessly. Listening to him, you took deep breaths imitating him as he wanted you to. With your head against his chest as well, the crashing of the thunderstorm seemed to drown out in exchange to the steady beating of your boyfriends heart despite his worry and concern for you. His body warmth and scent also helped you calm down a lot more. You felt safe. 

When you felt a lot better, you then slowly slid your hands under his very own which was wrapped around you, now doing the same with your own arms. You snuggled into his chest and you felt his muscles loosened from his tensed state before. “hey.. you good there? you scared me quite a bit baby” he said while separating himself from you to get a look of your face. You hummed to reassure him that you’re feeling better now while he wipes your slightly dried up tears away from your cheeks with his huge hands. He smiles at your reassurance which caused a chain reaction, you smiling as well in return. You admired his appearance before giving him a peck on his lips. “thank you, yunho ya” his eyes widened at the sudden act of affection before breaking out his usual charming smile. He pulled you back into his arms surrounding you with his warmth and calming scent once again before saying, “anytime darling” and you both stayed there for some time listening to the drizzling sound of raindrops.
