Being an artist sucks

Hi! I'm really stressed out so I need to vent a bit.

Life has been very very hard lately. I lost my job last year, back in June and couldn't find work until the fall (seasonal work) so just for 3 months

I was told by the manager that they would keep me on after the season ended. On Christmas Eve is when I found out the DM changed their mind and they weren't going to keep seasonal hires.

This constant instability is really, really getting to me. The inability to find a job that can give me basic needs to just exist and afford food, shelter, and other necessities is just...breaking my spirit.

The only thing I can get hired for is minimum wage retail/food service work and I can't live off that kind of salary, its simply not enough to get by. I'm applying for those job too out of desperation. I have experience doing admin/office work so I've been applying to those jobs for security, health insurance, etc. but each opportunity has been a dead end.

No one will hire me. I feel stuck. I don't know what to do. My Unemployment benefits are running out. I have two more checks then after that, I can't apply for a new claim until September. I'm fucked.

Mostly, I'm sad because I work so hard to build a career for myself and it gives me nothing. When I finally did get a job that paid well, it only last a year and now I'm back to unemployed.

I'm 33 years old and I have nothing to my name. I think I'm a great artist but finding work as an illustrator is just another dead end. I spend hours and hours making my portfolio look perfect but no one will hire me because of my "lack of experience" which is funny because I've been managing my online store since 2018 but for whatever reason, employers don't care about that. why? Idk but it is genuine hard work but no one cares unless you've published like 50 book cover illustrations lol.

The ‘Unspoken Desires’ family background

The Foredale are an illustrious and old English noble family, with more than nine hundred years of history. Their lineage goes back to the time of William, the Conqueror. The lands were granted to their ancestor Richard of Caen, who is thought to have been a royal bastard.

The official house colours are blue and gold.

The family played an important role during the regency era, helping to bring down an intricate conspiracy against the royal family. Since then, the house has continued to maintain very strong ties with the royal family. In fact, the current Earl of Edgewater is the Queen’s godson and the Dowager Countess is often invited to take tea with the monarch. The Foredale’s are also related to the Cordonian royal family, on the part of the Dowager Countess.

In spite of there is no extended family, the Foredale are very close to other families in the region, such as the Sinclaire’s and the Parson’s.

Although they don’t neglect any of their social commitments, the family lives most of the time at Edgewater estate, away from the prying eyes of the press, especially since the arrival of the Earl’s daughter to the family.

The Foredale are traditionally patrons and charitable, and the first Earl of Edgewater on the 21st  century is no exception. One of the most visible faces of the family’s patronage is the young equestrian athlete Luke Harper, who is already training for the Olympic Games.

The three children are known as good students and are very active in Moorfield’s community activities. Both boys study in Eton and the daughter in a local school. There are high expectations for this new generation. The youngest son, Harry Foredale (b.1995), will inherit the title of ‘Earl’ and much of the family’s wealth. It is expected that his older half-brother, Edmund Marlcaster (b.1991), assist the future Earl in his duties. Miss Beatrice Foredale (b.1994) is expected to inherit the title of Viscountess Foredale.

The official entry of Miss Foredale into social circles is awaited with anticipation, since there have been no female descendents for nearly a hundred years.

In addition to the family properties management and his political duties, the Earl is also an amateur historian and a writer, author of bestsellers like The Unexpected Heiress and Distant Shores.
