As an autistic trans woman, there is a rhetorical tactic I noticed that is common both in transmisogyny and in ableism towards autistic people. And this is claiming that being transfem or autistic is that something that we can use to excuse our bad behavior, including abuse (here is a transmisogynistic example I talked about before.) This is claiming that the traits that make us socially oppressed actually make us privileged, that makes us allowed to get away with behavior other people get punished for. In this fantasy world, being autistic or transfem as something that gives us power and privilege, like how being cis straight man does in the real one.
And it’s for sure a fantasy, the opposite of the truth. Being transfem or autistic actually makes you a social pariah (unless you pass or mask so well that people can’t tell you are autistic or transfem). We are actually given far less leeway to violate social norms. Harmless things we do, like not looking people in the eye, are harshly punished. And even doing the same social interactions other people do, are seen as predatory if we are visibly transfem or autistic while doing them.
