"MOM" Nightwings voice screamed through the Watchtower as the Justice League was having a debrief meeting of the last mission
And soon enough Nightwing, in all his black and blue glory stromped into the meeting room with Robin right behind him
"mom tell Robin to stop being annoying" Nightwing demanded, acting more like a child than the adult vigilante that he was
"no mom tell Nightwing to stop being a stubborn asshole" Robin stomped his foot
"language" Batman growled at the younger vigilante (side kick actually but who's keeping track of it)
Batman then sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose before looking back to at his sons
"what are you two arguing about now?"
Nightwing opened his mouth but before he could say anything Robin cut him off
"he's not letting me go on patrols with him anymore"
"because I don't want to be stuck as your baby sitter"
"i can handle myself just fine!"
"says a kid that slipped and almost fell to his death just last week"
"i was doing perfectly fine before you started your yap session, your annoying voice distracted me"
Nightwing gasped, clearly offended
"how dare you, my voice is perfectly fine"
As the two argued Batman was clearly losing his patiance, it wasn't long before he eventually lost it
"QUIET!" Batman yelled making both Robin and Nightwing immediately stop fighting and straighten their backs "both of you stop arguing and go back to the cave, we'll continue that conversation there. Do I make myself clear?"
"yes mom sorry mom" both of the birds said at the same time and immediately left the meeting room, probably to go to the zeta tubes
When they were gone Batman turned his attention back to the Justice League
"now where were we?"
The other heroes couldn't do anything else other than stare in disbelief on what just happened in front of them
I love the idea that they call Batman "mom", but Bruce Wayne "dad". Both in and out of uniform. That way everyone thinks Bruce has double the amount of kids and is married to Batman. Also people are more scared to hurt the birds and the bats in and out of uniform due to the fact that Batman can make you wish you were dead physically and Bruce Wayne can make you wish you were dead financially and emotionally.

So the GIW is the Ghost Investigation Ward and not the Ghost Extermination Ward, yes? Hear me out, hm?
See, it’s really hard to study ecto-entities when they’re going all over in and out of the world. Really hard! And of course they aren’t like, sentient, studies for years before the boom in this one town showed this! But, the overgrown not-birds (they’re still debating that) are really hard to watch doing their natural thing when they naturally mimic people around them!
So! They got this idea, right? Their operatives can capture some! They’ve even made enclosures based off of what they currently know! It’s like containing crows, down to the mimicry & puzzle solving just er, with opposable thumbs and intangibility.
And they don’t succeed first tries of course (Wow were said operatives frustrated and maybe cursing a bit that might be a bit violently) but then they get some assistance from the Fentons! Trying to hit an ecto-entities’ wings in a way to not permanently injure them is hard, but the new net canons that a ghost can’t pass through? Perfect!
They have so many specimens now! They even released a few that were very much uncontainable- they rely on technology a bit and that entity kept unlocking all the doors. So catch and release with that one it is!
They even managed to catch the white-haired ghost! In double! Which might not seem that important, but! As they realize during intake & initial examination (wow are they bitey) the two appear to be young! Something their ectobiologists only theorized about but oh are they excited! (Now if only the two would stop trying to escape their enclosure that’d be swell! Look, toys! Foo- oh dear God that baby ecto-entity is melting- Oh few, okay note taken to raise ambient ecto levels in that room dear god that was horrifying and stressful. … Maybe get some feelers out for feeding unstable energy entities…)

“Sir, we’ve… There’s been an encounter with a Reaper class entity.”
There were several classifications for ecto-entities. Several ways the Ghost Investigation Ward classified each. Several common ones that they could easily destroy, easily study. Others however… others were dangerous. Incredibly dangerous.
There’d only been two other Reaper-class entities confirmed before- both contained but barely. RP-1, a large knight-like entity seemingly made from shadows, and RP-2, a child-like creature that could near perfectly mimic a human.
And now, there was a third. A third entity that could- and judging from the reports coming in had- killed. Had done so several times even. Which meant it needed to be contained yesterday.

I have shown up like a pest out of nowhere to talk about deadly decisions My favorite evil crack ship
I just love the idea of those two be together but I find it even funnier if they are actually a very a healthy relationship like everyone's expecting them to be crazy toxic for Danny and Ras to argue most the time but they spend most their time doing old people stuff like Ra helping Danny make a scrapbook of all their kids and grandchildren and Ras and Danny sparring with each other and their free time or sometimes they'll see
Danny making Ras read along a book about astronomy to him just because Danny likes the way that Ras voice sounds
Like they're very lovey dovey and very much are the definition of a happy relationship no one knows how and everybody's wondering
But like that's the most funniest version of deadly decisions to me when they're not bitter exes and they're just some reason happily together and no one can figure out why
Bruce, Dick, Tim after accidentally coming into room and silently watching Danny make Ras help him make a scrapbook of their children's lives: I'm sorry I wasn't expecting this
You're so right and you should say it louder! It's hilarious, and we need more healthy loving relationships! Addam's family vibes! Yes one is a ghost and one an immortal hippie-assassin but they love each other!

YOU! YOU GET IT!
I already created a cryptid batfam language I can totally make a feral Birdmen one! Body language, sounds- both verbal and not. Like from the outside it probably looks like a hivemind.
ALSO! Flocking birds, ever watch them? They can all move in tandem and not say a thing, will go completely off each others body language- now add in a mental connection?
Do you see how in sync even just a few could be, how in sync they'd have to be, because there's nothing stopping the blackouts from manifesting. They have to deal with those all on their own, have to get good at dealing with those together, because if one isn't defeated, then they're dead.
Also fun fact, I totally imagine them being able to open their mask-beak to straight up bite things with more force, like pseudo-fangs. Because human mouths, we're designed for crushing, it's why it's hard for us to draw blood usually without crazy force, they deserve something that cuts too.
