Introduction/My interests.

Barely an introduction, but I'm Laine Damien. Here are the things I'm so enamored with right now.

One thing is the Duffers' "Stranger Things", but especially Mike and Eleven. I find their love-story bittersweet and fascinating. I find Mike to be very relatable at times, a prominent obsession and fictional crush of mine, and Eleven is certainly a hopeful puzzle for me with her complex background. I love them both, together and separately. I like to make fanart sometimes, but my perfectionism usually gets inconvenient when I try to draw them, hah. My other favorites are Steve, Will, Joyce and Jonathan.

I realize "stim-y" is not a word, but it's the best thing to describe what I am when we start talking about Black Tabby Games' "Slay the Princess". My favorite voices are Voice of the Smitten, Voice of the Stubborn, and Voice of the Broken. My favorite chapters/princesses are The Princess and The Dragon, The Eye of the Needle, The Thorn, The Witch, The Wild, The Stranger, and The Damsel. I also appreciate The Narrator.

One of my favorite things to do is randomly quote lines spoken by my dear Voice of the Smitten.

I like a bunch of other things, but I don't usually talk about them as much, hah. I like Tim Burton, Ghostbusters 1 and 2, Dead End: Paranormal Park, Desperate Housewives (2004), DeadEndia, Nirvana, Incubus, 12 RODS, Say Anything, Kandi, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Adam Sandler, Sixteen Candles, Mannequin (1987), and The Magnus Archives, especially! I like the art of Jonathan Sims!

I love the Voice of The Smitten like I love The Smiths and, well, I am the son and the heir of a shyness that is criminally vulgar.

is anyone else just madly in love with Will? 'Cause I am! (Rave about Will. 💕)

I want hold the shambles of myself together and softly love on him.

Telling your crush that the very personal painting you spent months of time and effort on that could have very well been the gateway to your rekindled friendship with him was actually your sister's idea solely to give him more confidence about his relationship (They didn't know about Vecna. He didn't know he'd be helping Mike and El temporarily save the world.) takes an INCREDIBLE heart to do. I couldn't do that. You probably couldn't do that. But Will did that. I feel sorrow but also admiration. I love the writing on this character and I love dwelling on him. He's one of my favorites, even though I don’t post about him much. 💕 I realize that he's selfless in other ways, this is just my favorite example of it.

*Throws hand over forehead.* Oh, fellow Will lover, where art thou?

I can't wait for more of him in season five! Ahhhh!!!!

Unrelated to the writing but I think he's gorgeous too. He's just so pretty on top of everything else. 🙃 This is what happens when I wake up too early and try to curate a post. I hope this reaches the right people or else I just look like an ass-clown. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Oh, well. I don't mind being a fool for such a lovely character. Lol.

Just the warning in case people dislike the ambiguous spoiler factor.

A detail I just caught.

Ever notice how, in The Sauna Test, Mike glances at Eleven for a hot moment after Billy is thrown through the wall? Like, not when he held her, but while everyone was doing that anxious, bad-ass stare out of the hole in the wall. He looks to her for a moment when nobody else does. It sort of emphasizes how much he seems to focus/worry for her, which I think is a nice detail.

I couldn't find this part on YouTube, and I can't record over Netflix clips, so the quality is rather poor.

I doodled some generous hearts, mixing my love of Mike and Eleven, and Slay the Princess. A doodle to share some ideas I have. I have an incredibly hard time drawing their features.

I'd like to come out with a true, finished drawing of them, though.

Self-expressive Eleven doodles. Let's talk about it!

so... The types of clothes and hair Eleven would wear if she always got to choose is something that I think about a lot. After she went shopping with Max in season three, she chose clothing COMPLETELY different than anything else I've ever seen her in. In season 1, 2, and 4, it's all hand-me-downs. Fairly dreary ones at that. Though, the one time she gets to choose in 3, it's incredibly vivid and colorful. Dark bases with eccentric patterns. As for the clothes for her Rink-O-Mania date in S4, a plan personal and special to her, she's wearing something colorful again– As colorful as Joyce can afford. I never thought about it until recently but I love it! She likes colorful stuff.

With that... here they are! Some ideas for what she might want to wear when she gets the option again. What do you think she'd wear?

Mileven lovers, what's your favorite Mileven arc?

One of my favorite arcs out of any piece of media is this one in Stranger Things 4. Mike and Eleven's scenario(s). It's after a rocky reunion for the first time in many months. So, we know these two were having some problems with their self esteem. She starts lying to him because she's scared, she fears he doesn't love her like he used to, for he never says it– Can't even write it. If she can't be a hero, maybe being a popular girl will mend things? What she doesn't realize is that things were never torn. Mike has always loved her, but he didn't say it because he was afraid, too– afraid that in the future, he'd lose her again. A dance they'd gone through many times already. Befriending, falling in love, separation, reunion, separation, reunion, separation, reunion... It's become a pattern. Will he lose her again? And this time, will it be his fault? Will it be permanent? So, he doesn't tell her he loves her before she's taken away by police.

One more time separated.

She– their fight– was all he could focus on in those few days. She's been tested on in excruciatingly traumatic reminders, immersing herself in bad memories. When they're back together, it's a relief. They're overjoyed to see one another again. The first time she'd smiled in days, and the second time he had.

They get into Surfer Boy knowing she's about to fight something intense and unfamiliar... and he's turned her into a grinning mess!

I love his love-monologue very much but I'll save those ramblings for another time. 😂

Mileven lovers! What's your favorite scene from each season?

I'll do anything to ramble about this sweet couple. For me, I love the scene when she leans on Mike after fighting Billy in The Sauna Test. Their break-up always seemed so dumb to me, and that little action felt like something more genuine amidst the separation. She wants Mike's support– She finds comfort in him. That is what Eleven wanted in that time of utter distress, even after breaking up with him. See, I like that scene so much because they'd broken up on a dumb whim–Poor advice– but there's still a genuine connection they're dancing around. I always thought it was poor writing, but it honestly just seems... Kind of teenager-y, hah. I should know, we're definitely an immature lot at times. XD When they broke down their walls of pride a little bit, that was the "olive branch", as Lucas called it. The fact they can get over a petty break-up and come back as strong as ever over a PACK OF M&Ms is pretty damn impressive. I like that!

That's my favorite from season 3! I don't want the post to look too long, so I'll leave it there. I'll probably make more with my other favorites!
