Hello everybody!

First and foremost, we hope that you are staying safe and healthy during these strange and scary times. Please take care of yourself and your loved ones. Those of us in Los Angeles have been in stay-at-home mode for over a month now, and expect to be in lockdown for at least another month. Although film and television production has been completely shut down, we have been trying to make the best of working from home, including continuing to push through post-production on PURE!

Our director, Cate, and key producer/editor, J, have been busy creating the graphics and animation for the interactive scenes in our pilot episode. We have also been writing and testing voice-over dialogue to accompany those scenes. And it's been looking pretty darn cool.

Working on the interactive side of our pilot episode, coming soon!

Our director, Cate Carson, put together this little update video to give you a behind-the-scenes look into some of the post-production on the PURE pilot episode. Get a brief introduction to how we plan to incorporate our pilot into an interactive graphic novel format that will allow us to tell more of the story in a shorter time when pitching to major studios and production companies.

Additionally, the hardcopy incentives which include the One-Sheet Poster Print, Character Portraits, Autographed Script Pages, and Poster Pack were mailed out in September to all our campaign supporters who selected those perks AND provided their mailing address through Seed & Spark's automated survey system. We also sent direct messages to supporters who had not yet provided a mailing address at that time. If you were expecting one of the above perks and have not yet received it, please email us at journeytotheannex@gmail.com so we can look into it.

Here are a few film stills from the rough cut of PURE! 

The rough cut is complete, and we are currently planning and prepping for the rest of post-production. We anticipate one day of pick-ups, and the remainder of post includes things like CGI/visual FX, color correction, ADR and sound design, and music. In order to fund post-production, we have spent most of 2019 applying to filmmaking grants and finishing funds. Most of these opportunities are tedious processes, often not announcing their finalists and winners for many months. But we are optimistic and doing as much prep and post as we can do on our own while we continue looking for financing.

In the meantime, we are going to begin distributing some of the hard-copy perks from our crowdfunding campaign starting in the next few weeks. So if you are expecting a One-Sheet, Character Portraits, and/or Autographed Script Pages keep a look-out in your inbox for instructions that will help us get those to you. Larger perks such as the Behind-the-Scenes Featurette, Digital Portfolio, and Producers' Books require us to finish post-production first, so those will be distributed at a later date.

We are steadily climbing our way through post-production on Episode Zero of PURE.  We are just about done with editing the rough cut. From here, we will be able to determine what we need in terms of pick-up shots and ADR. Then we'll be back in the cutting room to tackle the final edit while our Visual FX team works on our CGI special effects, followed by sound design and music.

Set in a future where genetic modification has divided society, PURE is a sci-fi/adventure digital series exploring freedom, sacrifice, and morality from an inclusive perspective. 

The pilot episode, Episode Zero, crowdfunded in the the summer of 2018, principal photography wrapped in December of 2018, and the project is currently in post-production.

And... That’s a Wrap!

We did it!!!

Thanks to you, last weekend we shot two days of principal photography on Episode Zero of PURE. We had a fantastic time shooting on location in Idyllwild, California and cannot wait to show you how it all turned out. Here is a little behind-the-scenes sneak peek:

But we still have a long road ahead of us. Following a short break for the holidays and the New Year, we will be jumping right into post-production. We are excited to announce two killer new cast members: Melissa Pino and Lance A. Williams, who are filling the roles of our primary Dissension characters of Mara and Jace.

Melissa has been seen on TV in "Criminal Minds," "Rizzoli & Isles," and "30 Rock;" and has voiced roles in the video games "Call of Duty: Ghosts" and "XCom 2." Lance joins us from the east coast and appeared earlier this year in the feature film "The Equalizer 2" alongside Denzel Washington and on the TV show "The Price of Fame."

We are so honored they have agreed to join our little family and absolutely can't wait for you to see what they bring to this project.

Less than TWO WEEKS away from production! We’re not screaming, you’re screaming!

In our most recent update at www.journeytotheannex.com, our lead actors Briggon Snow and Julia Morizawa go to their first official fitting with costume designer Kumie Asai. The core team continues pre-production based on our shiny new script, while director Cate Carson is getting the whole show together with all our department heads and key producer J. Everley is busy magically stretching our budget as far as it’ll go.

Our lead actors, Briggon Snow and Julia Morizawa, have both been nominated for multiple Audio Verse Awards for their performances in the audio drama podcasts “The Bright Sessions,” and “The Big Loop.” Briggon was also nominated for his work in “My Neighbors are Dead.”
