i love when tragedies are like “the love was there. it didnt change anything. it didnt save anyone. there were just too many forces against it. but it still matters that the love was there”

a house is a home but a house is alive but a house is a prison but a house is a graveyard but a house is a caregiver but a house is an emancipation but a house is a monster but the house loves you and the house will not let you go

what did jesus do?, adam gopnik // archeology, myriam fraga (trans. chloe hill) // sacrifice: a problem for theology, simone weil // amor fati, ruth awad // xx, alex lemon // the secret history, donna tartt // music from a burning piano, traci brimhall // her body and other parties, carmen maria machado // eating snake, margaret atwood // saturday night special, natasha oladokun.

We fought over the homemade doughnuts

the grease splattered you and we made up

sunlight filled the room

yesterday we turned the clocks back

today it was dark where we stood yesterday at

the same time

2

My son loves me and loves his mother

more which makes me love him more

When I pick him up he looks around for her

at first then settles down into my arms

He has started making strong noises

in his throat

and yelling when we take things away from him

3

There is so much I love i know there will

not be enough time to love it all

I did not have to be born but I was

and I enjoy the difference that I make

I think about my life and move in one direction

slightly and the whole web of it pulls with me

I couldn’t decide if I wanted to draw mermaids, or drawing something inspired by Alfonse Mucha’s beautiful sketches. So then I thought: Why not both?  These flowy underwater ladies were the result. Do you ever mix and match your inspirations?
