he/him | Gay-oriented aro ace | FIN, ENG Finnish (Central Ostrobothnia) Artist, occasional writer, history major Hooded crow (Corvus c. cornix) ☭ MLM - A big fan of xenofiction and anthropomorphic art! Making this blog to continue whatever I did on instagram. A lot of lore, a lot of package, no context. Current project: "Gashadokuro" - TMNT fancomic socials & TOS: https://raptorwithink.carrd.co

Introduction?

I am, as Xi would put it, "a villager of the Village of Earth, who has found a new home". I've been active on my instagram for years - since high-school, which would make my account somewere around 7 years old at this point. But I think we all know how that site is turning out. I had cultivated a lot of personal "lore" in the form of memes, motifs, and different art projects including multitude of au:s. It would be way too difficult to try and explain years worth of natural art growth. So I'll just... post. Post like I had posted before. If you're really itching to know what the fuck is going on, you can ask and I'll deliver to the best of my abilities.

I'll list some of the "characters" that frequently appear on my little one-man-show (as of now):

  • Don - Gashadokuro's iteration of Donatello (tmnt)
  • Michael / Mikey - Gashadokuro's iteration of Michelangelo (tmnt)
  • Leo - Gashadokuro's iteration of Leonardo (tmnt)
  • Simo - Fox / fox spirit from Finland, a Civil War era "Red" (communist/socialist/workers' guard) . Character that appears in Gashadokuro. Also the name of a plushie fox who is kind of based on said character (oc)
  • Mahito - one of the villains in Jujutsu Kaisen, my current fixation / comfort character. My boy, my little guy, my disgusting idiot cat. I just like drawing them, and have kind of adopted them as symbol for anarchy, (revolutionar) violence, and non-conformity (!?). Mahito is also one of the main/pov characters in my jjk au.
  • Meowhito - Cat version of Mahito. Started when I drew Mahito as the crying cat meme for a tiktok audio, and have continued to re-draw different cat memes with that thing ever since :'3

its kind of really awesome to be a huge fan of ur friends art because then they become famous to you. its not exactly the same as making friends with an artist u already look up to its like if michaelangelo was relatively unknown and posted his art to 1 discord server and his tumblr blog. and you just have to sit there like i need people to understand how cool you are. why aren't you being asked for autographs yet

I love being a freeloader and not producing anything with market value!!! /(not ironic) /(genuine)

Making my first ever cosplay and I'm hand-sewing silk because I am normal

too much monogamy in fandom in general

as we all know, everyone falls in love once and only once with their one true love the first time, and if they had relationships before that they weren’t real and didn’t love each other, and you can’t love more than one person at once, and your friends and family need to be pushed out of the picture to focus more on your romance, and no one has sex with people they don’t love, and if they did, they’re dirty and they have to have hated it and the sex they have with their one true love after they’re officially together has to be better sex than they ever had before, and no one ever breaks up for any reason other than death, and everyone wants to get married and have kids. aren’t you fucking tired.

Sometimes I think about how the paintings of the agony in the garden are ……..inaccurate? I mean Jesus is fully God but He is also fully man and when we are afraid we don’t usually look up placidly at the sky while kneeling in the grass. I basically break down before taking a hard exam and you think that Jesus was all stoic like that before He was tortured and died for us? No, He sweat blood.

Now look at THIS

Who it by?

It’s by Adam Abram, thanks for asking. His work is wonderfulll.

Here’s a few more that aren’t just, you know, looking up at the sky.

Still a little chillaxed but He in pain

Praying hard

This one features the angel ministering to Him so that’s neat.

I’m going to add one

Not My Will, but Thine, by Walter Rane

Christ on Gethsemane, 1973 - Jesus Mafa.  From Vanderbilt Divinity Library.

Oh God yes. Christ begged and pleaded with God, sweat blood, and felt abandoned in all of his humanity. He joined us on the ground. A few more paintings:

“Jesus Prays in Gethsemane” by Jan van’t Holt

“Gethsemane” by Liz Swindle

Unknown (can’t figure out how to do reverse image search on mobile, but if anyone knows the artist please chime in)

“The Agony of Gethsemane” by Greg Olsen

“Christ in Gethsemane” by Vasily Perov

“Jesus Prays in the Garden of Gethsemane” by James Tissot

“Christ in Gethsemane” by Carl Bloch (two versions)

I love that so many show Him lying prostrate in prayer and obedience to the Father. While I am not nearly well-read enough to definitively know the theological reasoning, I like to think that this is why priests do this when they are ordained.

Oh!

It’s not the agony in the garden, but this seems like the perfect place for my favorite painting of Christ in the desert:

One artwork I have not yet seen mentioned in this thread: “Gethsemane” by Magnus Enckell

Accidentally making a character something of a self-insert by making them aro-ace, autistic, and having low empathy, but the character in question is also a fanatic christian who believes murder is okay because "if God didn't want them to die He would’ve stopped me from killing them :)"
