Overview of some topics when it comes to drawing characters who are burn survivors.

DISCLAIMER. Please keep in mind that this is an introductory overview for drawing some burn scars and has a lot of generalizations in it, so not every “X is Z” statement will be true for Actual People. I'm calling this introductory because I hope to get people to actually do their own research before drawing disabled & visibly different characters rather than just making stuff up. Think of it as a starting point and take it with a grain of salt (especially if you have a very different art style from mine).

Talking about research and learning... don't make your burn survivor characters evil. Burn survivors are normal people and don't deserve to be constantly portrayed in such a way.

edit: apparently tum "queerest place on the internet" blr hates disabled people so much that this post got automatically filtered. cool!

I wonder sometimes if Luis giving himself the title Don Quixote was self-deprecating in some way. Like SURELY he knew that the book itself was a satire on the genre of knighthood and chivalry, SURELY he picked up on the fact that Alonso was ridiculed at best and his quests were seen as foolish and delusions of grandeur right?? Did he he use the title of Don Quixote as a form of self-mockery and as a way to shield his self-loathing and guilt from the world with the facade of a confident knight???? Or did he throw himself into the interpretation of the book he fell in love with as a little boy, and clung onto the hope that maybe, MAYBE, his time would be different, that this time his journey WOULDN’T end in him as the fool again, that his dreams of a better and kinder world weren’t for nothing and that Don Quixote and Sancho Panza always made it out in the end??

Or did he know, regardless of his own feelings towards the character and the text, that it’d end in tragedy either way. Cuz surely, he knew he wasn’t gonna make it out of Valdelobos alive, no matter how badly he wanted to, no matter how much he fought tooth and nail to get out and right his wrongs for a better world. Maybe he took solace in the tragedy that was Alonso Quixana’s life and took on the role as a way of accepting his fate; that he’d meet an early death in the same village he grew up in, in the same place his Grandfather died in. Maybe that’s why he was so adamant on calling Leon his ‘Sancho’-

Cuz he knew Sancho would make it out alive, and Don Quixote wouldn’t. Maybe that’s why he was so adamant on having Leon be his Sancho. Cuz he knew, in the end, it was Sancho who saved Princess Dulcinea. It was Sancho who stayed by Alonso’s side right to the very end, and got to live his own happily ever after. Or, maybe, Luis was just hoping that Leon would provide the same comfort and security that Sancho did for Alonso- seeing past his delusions and mistakes for the man he truly is deep down inside. Even if it meant dying for him.

Hi guys. This isn't the usual shit I post on this blog but this is very very important. Please do read the doc below and spread awareness. Even a reblog would be appreciated

If he does a fucking doc about this. Don't believe shit he says. He's a liar a freak and a weirdo

his user here on tumblr is @/pink1espr1nkl3z if u wanna block him.

i just find it pathetic how instead of apologizing and owning up 2 his actions he's making a whole doc trying 2 justify his shitty behavior. how (not) responsible of him

also the word "allegations" imply that it could be untrue, which isnt the case at all since we have proof of him ACTUALLY doing that shit. goddd i cant w this fucking dude

"Curly is a bad guy" RANT.

Something that pisses me off to NO END are people who blame Curly for what happened, even worse is if they say he's a bad guy.

The people who blame Curly fail to acknowledge the TIMELINE of how the events played out. (PS. I'd recommend watching a YouTube video of the game in chronological order!)

First of all, Curly had NO TIME to think. (Well, not really). Anya tells him, he's in shock and probably spends the whole day thinking about what to do, then the next day Anya reveals that she told Jimmy she was pregnant, which Curly is upset that she didn't warn him before telling Jimmy because... duh... he wants to help.

For the record-- it's not as simple as "just tying Jimmy up" or "just shooting him". If he tied Jimmy up he'd have to give him bathroom breaks and make sure he's fed, all that nonsense, which wouldn't make sense for someone who didn't know they were on a timer. And... obviously he can't shoot him. Not only is murder ILLEGAL but Curly is responsible for EVERYONE on Tulpar......... including Jimmy.

When Curly finally does confront Jimmy... it's a pretty normal conversation. Curly wants to help Jimmy and Anya get through this. He's not gonna confront Jimmy talking about how much punishment he's going to get, he's trying to COOPERATE. He'll reassure Jimmy that it'll all be okay, because it's a stupid idea to go up to an abuser and say: "I'm gonna get you in so much trouble". That doesn't mean Curly's afraid of confrontation; it means he's a GOOD, ~~responsible~~ leader.

Let me remind you all: JImmy PASSED the psych eval. (At least we can infer he did). Why the hell would Curly realistically think Jimmy was about to kill them all? He didn't think he was on a timer! Who would??? (And if you say you would've realized he was gonna do something as drastic as that, than you've clearly never been in a position like this).

Quite literally IMMEDIATELY after having that conversation with Jimmy, he went to crash them. This situation had NO EASY answer on what to do. And, no, he can't just "get him off the ship" like Anya wanted, she was being unrealistic. The ship still had just under 8 months of transport.

I watched Mouthwashing (I kid you not) the day after being sexually assaulted. Coincidence? Yeah. But it's me letting you know JUST FOR REFERENCE... I know what it's like to be trapped under a roof with someone who sexually abused you. Curly fills the void for me. I felt so emotionally connected to Curly because I LOVED him for how responsibly he handled the situation, even if it was all for naught.

Because of this, I get really emotional when people say Curly is a bad guy... so if I go hog wild about this topic, that's why.

People who dislike Curly because of how "useless" he is live in a lala land. The game has realistically written characters, so you need to judge them with REALISM. Don't just put yourself in their shoes, put yourself in their brain.

But that's my TED talk for the day. Thank you for reading.
