hey gang i think we can talk about the misogyny in warrior cats without defending a character whos ONLY personality trait is "abuses disabled children"

the problem it's not that there's abusive women in the books, the problem resides in how the narrative only makes the horrible irredeemable abusers women. For example, even stormtail ended up having an uhh... Decent relationship with bluestar, with how the writers wrote him ""defending"" her from thistleclaw, other male characters such as crowfeather or sandgorse, hell, even tom of all characters get ""redeemed"" by the end or at least die being somewhat heroic. While with female characters it's literally "she's such a bitch loool"

It's said that Hollytuft is a spitting image of Hollyleaf. (Of course she is, they're both black cats lmao) When it comes to discussions about Hollytuft, it usually becomes "she should've gotten Nightheart's arc," and sure, I agree, but I don't want to just give her his arc. Sharing is caring, and caring means paralleling each other :D

Nightheart was originally Flamekit and then Flamepaw, named after Firestar, and he would've been Flameheart, but he rejected his name at his warrior ceremony, and so Bramblestar named him Nightheart as a compromise.

What if Hollytuft did the opposite? Cats keep mistaking her for Hollyleaf, and she keeps correcting them over and over, but it drives her to a breaking point, and so at her warrior ceremony, instead of being named Hollytuft, she wants to be named Hollyleaf. Kind of like a silent mental breakdown.

"What's the point of having my own identity if I'm just confused for someone else" thing.

And I say parallels because Nightheart and Hollytuft can be really similar here. Hollytuft, canonically, doesn't seem to be the easiest cat to get along with, and she knows it; Nightheart, canonically, isn't the easiest cat to get along with, but he doesn't know it.

They can both have strained relationships with their parents for naming them after dead cats.

They can both be driven up walls for constantly having pressure and being mistaken for something/someone else being put on them.

And it can all culminate in them rejecting their original names and wanting something else, but where Flameheart becomes Nightheart, Hollytuft becomes Hollyleaf II.

The vision.

leafpool inherited from firestar that "character canonically very cishet however queer ships with them being 100% more interesting than the canon thing, making me see them as just gay"

(OK HEAR ME HERE, THIS IS NOT A FIRESAND DUNK, I get the appeal rivals to lovers yada yada yada. However, firestar is just gay to me, and sandstorm gets done a disservice when being with firestar, she becomes just "firestar girlfriend" to me, she loses her bite, sandstorm should be a lesbian. They are in a lavander marriage to me. Hope I don't have to justify leafpool, leafpool is gay)

Hello, this is to say that the lower ones eyes moth pool animatic is still being made (sorry! I procrastinate a lot!)

The rough animatic as of itself is almost done already, I'm planning to make this into a full fledged pmv but when I finish the roughs I will post them as a wip.

Again sorry for taking so damn long sigh, at least my high school term is already over

Here, have another frame

(those are starclan cats ok)

curlfeather as a villain was such a great concept, as well as choosing all the protags, they all had difficult relationships with their moms and at the end of the series it shows how all the mothers did care for their kits in their own way

Sparkpelt loved Nightheart from a distance, both wanting a connection from each other but struggle with initiating it -> both having a familial connection that improves and forgive each other (istg if yall claim Nightheart was in the wrong i will fight you because yall have NOT read the books)

Berryheart did love Sunbeam however the relationship was very intense, after losing Needletail to Darktail and having to deal with the kin made her very strict and conservative this made her and Sunbeams relationship very strained when she tried to get Sunbeam to follow her ideals to the point Sunbeam wonders if her mom loves her due to how conservative she is -> Berryheart shows that she did care for Sunbeam by defending her till her last breath (this does not excuse her actions)

Curlfeather definitely loved her kits but i think she favorited Frostdawn the most , after the death of her mate the moment Frostdawn's dream made her think just maybe she is a medicine cat, she was very close with her and we can definitely see that in book 1, however its found out she was using Frostdawn so she can be leader -> at the end her and Frostdawn talk, a very long talk, her trying to explain her actions and defending it, through and through but she does care for her. from sacrificing herself to actually talking to her.

i wish Berryheart and Sunbeam would've had that kind of talk however with how stubborn Berryheart is, it would've been hard, especially since around that time she did in a way disown her (rejecting help from her + the clans) i think it would be cool to have her talk to her as a ghost or something.

honestly this is just how I'm choosing to see the arc while covering my ears and eyes. This is the arc to me ok

saw your tags and im agreeing but also disagreeing for a few reasons

  1. erin hunters writing is misogynistic and does seem to focus more on the male characters and treat female characters like the dating pool for the male characters or characters to kill off
  2. the whole book wasnt about Nightheart being named after him not being orange, it was about how thunderclan saw him as a whole. everyone did have high expectations from him as well as a tradition that in a way Squirrelstar started of her line naming their kits after Firestar. him being named Flamepaw made that insecurity of him not being up to thunderclans standards of being like Firestar made it worse. (imma add on and say him and sunbeams relationship felt forced, and him joining shadowclan in way felt like he was using sunbeam as a excuse to join the clan)

i DO agree with some of your point but

  1. Like I said yes, the writing is misogynistic, not sure why you mentioned it twice? And I'm not sure how that's a point of disagreement, I said night heart could've been somewhat interesting if the writing wasn't misogynistic, how does that contradict your statements?
  2. It wasn't but I just think it's silly how night heart specifically has this struggle, since most of thunderclan is at this point, related one way or another to firestar
