"Look at them...our little miracles."

This is what Carmella, Peony and Berie looked like when they were still in their eggs.I haven't drawn trolls eggs in a LONG LONG time so bare with me if they don't look the best.

Hehehe, y'all recognise this? This is a redraw from an old drawing that I did a while ago...does it look better?

Lava lamp inspired dress.

Ohhhhh what if the spots actually swirled around like liquid as she moved?!?!

Also think with each tribe they would make her a leg to go with it.

Babys First Bunker

(A Broppy Egg fic) 💙🩷

The royal nursery in the newly finished Pop Village Castle was usually very peaceful.

Except right now…

It looked more like a fortress.

Poppy stood in the doorway.

Her eyes were wide from the scene before her.

Blankets were draped over furniture.

Pillows were stacked into barricades.

And somehow Branch had built a tunnel system out of comforters.

In the middle she found him holding their still-unhatched egg.

“Branch. Honey. Love of my life. What is this?”

Branch blinked.

“Nesting?”

He said it like it was the most obvious thing.

Poppy sighed.

“You sure it's just that?”

Branch clutched the egg protectively.

His expression shifted into a serious mode.

“The egg is overdue, Poppy. It needs to be safe. We don’t know what’s taking so long and if something happens, I need to be ready.”

Poppy softened.

She got it.

She really did.

Branch had always been over prepared…

But the idea of something being wrong with their baby had him in full survival mode.

She stepped forward and crouched beside him.

“Branch, it’s okay. The egg is fine. Dr. Moonbloom said some eggs just take longer. Nothing’s wrong.”

Branch blinked as he held the egg closer.

He looked around at the fort as if he was seeing it for the first time.

“I can see that maybe it's a bit much… but I… I wasn't sure what else to do.”

“Okay, Branch, if this pillow fort is what you need right now? Then that's okay.”

He smiled gratefully.

“But I also don't think you should be alone right now. Which is why-”

“FORT TIME!”

John Dory's head suddenly appeared as he crawled in through a tunnel.

“Dude. You built this in three hours? That’s sick!”

Clay appeared too.

He pressed a hand to the blanket wall.

“Actually? Structurally, this is really solid. Great use of layering.”

Branch narrowed his eyes in confusion.

“What're you guys doing here?”

Bruce appeared behind Clay and mumbled something about his knees.

“Poppy told us what was going on. And well we definitely had to come see the baby’s first bunker.”

Branch scowled...

“It’s not a bunker. It’s a temperature-regulated, soundproof, predator-resistant nesting structure for optimal egg protection.”

Bruce raised an eyebrow.

“Soooo… a bunker?”

Floyd finally made his way inside.

“Hey, bro… how are you actually feeling?”

Branch hesitated.

Her rested one hand protectively on the egg.

“Perfectly fine.”

The brothers exchanged glances.

John Dory smirked.

“Almost had me fooled, baby bro. You know you’re really good at pretending everything’s fine on your own.”

“I’m not pretending. I’m fine.”

John Dory raised an eyebrow.

“Really? Because we haven't seen you in days?”

Branch looked away, almost ashamed.

“...Everyone’s got enough going on.”

There was a beat of silence.

John Dory chuckled and shuffled over next to Branch and Poppy.

“You know we’re brothers, right? We’re supposed to annoy each other about our own crap we've got going on. You’ve been there for me a thousand times and you have to know I've got your back. Always.”

Bruce nodded.

“He’s right, you know. I think you forget how many times we’ve all needed you.”

Clay smiled.

“Hey. You’re not alone. We know you’d be there for us if the roles were reversed. Let us be there for you now.”

Floyd placed a hand on his heart.

“What we’re saying is... We’re family, Branch. You can lean on us when you need to.”

Branch looked at his brothers.

The fear hadn’t gone away.

But maybe…He didn’t have to carry it alone.

Maybe it was okay to let his brothers help him with this.

“I don’t know… guys… I’m just worried. I was grey for so long… And now I’m worried that maybe something’s wrong with the baby because of that. Maybe... maybe they're stuck inside, too.”

Poppy rested her hand on his.

“Branch, you’re not grey anymore. You’ve found your happiness, and you’ve grown into this amazing, caring Troll. You’re more than ready for this.”

Branch took a deep breath.

He held the egg a little more confidently.

He wasn’t doing this alone.

He had his brothers and Poppy.

And together…

They could face whatever came next.

John Dory chuckled.

“Branch… you know, Grandma used to build forts like this for us, right?”

Branch glanced at him.

“…Yeah?”

John Dory smiled faintly.

“She made them during Trollstice, when things were scary. We’d all pile in and she’d tuck us under the blankets and sing to us. Told us we were safe.”

Clay leaned back against a pillow.

“I barely remember that…”

Bruce nodded.

“I do. She always made me feel like… no matter what was outside, we’d be okay.”

Floyd thought for a moment…

Before he started to hum.

All of the brothers immediately recognized the tune.

John Dory was the first to remember the words.

“Gently now, breathe in slow… Hear my voice, soft and low…"

Clay and Bruce joined in.

“Close your eyes, feel me near… Our hearts singing, loud and clear…”

Poppy’s voice came next.

Not words…

Just soft “oohs” to accompany the brothers voices.

Branch hadn’t heard this song in so long.

And for the first time in days…

The tension in his chest loosened.

And then…

The egg in Branch’s arms gave a sudden…

Strong…

Definite…

Wiggle!

Everyone saw it.

Floyd gasped.

“Did…did the egg just…?”

Everyone stared…

Noone dared to move.

The egg wiggled again and a small crack appeared on the shell.

Poppy whispered as she tried her best not to scream.

“Oh my gosh, keep singing!”

It took a moment to stumble back where they left off but they continued to sing softly.

Branch joined in the song too.

“Rhythm steady, warm and kind… You are safe here, peace you’ll find…”

More cracks appeared.

They all excitedly continued with the song.

“Moon up high, stars, they shine… Glowing with this love of mine…”

The egg rocked…

Another crack….

Then another.

And then…

The shell split open…

And the fort was filled…

With the piercing wail of a baby's first cry!

The tiny baby fell backwards out of the shell into Branch's arms.

Branch let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding.

Poppy immediately brushed her fingers gently across the baby’s cheek.

“Hi, sweetie. It’s okay. You’re safe. We’re right here.”

Branch leaned in, his voice barely a whisper.

“It’s okay, little one. I’ve got you.”

As they spoke, the baby’s cries slowly softened.

She blinked up at them again, as if trying to recognize their voices.

Poppy rested her head against Branch's shoulder.

“You did it, Branch. She’s okay.”

Branch stared at the little pink baby in his arms as she reached one tiny hand toward his face.

Branch whispered in almost disbelief.

“She’s safe… Grandma saved the day again.”

John Dory wiped at his eyes.

“Oh wow.”

Clay elbowed him gently.

“Are you crying?”

JD shot back quickly.

“You’re crying.”

Bruce chuckled.

“We’re all crying. Shut up.”

John Dory wiped his nose on the inside of his jacket.

“What are you gonna name her?”

Branch looked up at his brothers.

Each one of them was beaming.

Then he looked at Poppy.

Her eyes were shining with happiness.

He turned back to the baby…

Her pink cheek squished against his chest…

And whispered…

“Harmony. She is definitely Harmony.”

Poppy smiled and pressed a kiss to his cheek.

“It’s perfect.”

A collective awww went through the room.

John Dory was in awe.

“She looks so much like Poppy.”

Clay smirked and elbowed Bruce

“Except she’s got Branch’s grumpy eyebrows.”

Floyd leaned in to see her face.

“Hey Harmony. We’ve been waiting a long time to meet you, princess.”

Harmony yawned and gave the tiniest stretch imaginable.

Clay clutched his chest.

“Oh no. She’s too cute. We’re all doomed.”

John Dory laughed through his tears.

“We’re gonna spoil her so bad.”

Harmony, curled up on Branch’s chest…

Gave a tiny sigh and drifted off to sleep.

Branch layed down nearly flat.

Poppy snuggled in beside him.

“Looks like we’re officially not leaving this nest for a while.”

Branch laughed tiredly.

“No way I’m moving. This is our life now.”

Clay stretched and whispered.

“Alright. Baby’s here, lullaby’s sung. I’m gonna go get-”

As soon as he stepped towards the exit…

Harmony let out a sudden, high-pitched wail.

Clay froze.

“Oh no.”

Floyd whisper yelled.

“You broke the perimeter!”

Bruce raised his hands.

“We’re in containment protocol now, people!”

John Dory groaned but then chuckled.

“Okay, okay! Nobody leaves the nest! Princess’s orders.”

Harmony squirmed in Branch’s arms until he quickly started humming the lullaby again.

Poppy joined in quietly.

Harmony settled and snuggled back into her dad’s chest.

All the brothers collapsed back onto the floor with exaggerated groans.

Poppy smiled.

“Looks like this is home base now.”

Branch gave her a sleepy grin.

“As long as she’s happy, I’m not going anywhere.”

Harmony snored.

And not one of them dared move again.
