If you have a minute and a dollar to spare please consider helping the family of a friend of mine escape Gaza. If you only have a second, please share.

(Bc of how tumblr buries posts with links in them, I’ll put the link in the reblog & replies)

There’s 13 of them; even a dollar will go a long way in helping save 13 people. Thank you in advance.

6 months later and they still need help! They’re so close. Just a little bit goes a long way.

so many are feeling despair as we come up on 1 year of the absolute hell in Gaza out of the over 70 Israel has inflicted. you have seen thousands of terrified people desperately asking for help, and many rising to that call. we’ve also seen many of you overwhelmed by it, even lashing out in callousness. but when these get funded, when even just one person has finally gotten that help, i see very little recognition of what a wonder that is against the all the horror. that we have a chance to directly hold a hand out to a person out there at all. it’s so important to not give up. the fight is not over, the U.S. is still funding this endless nightmare, and we must take action- but we have these rare opportunities to save lives. we must do what we can.

this family has been SO CLOSE TO LEAVING THE WARZONE for SO LONG, they’ve been only $2000 away out of $60’000. THAT’S SO LITTLE MONEY. that is basically the amount i have in my bank account right now and I still managed to donate what I could. even a dollar helps. we have been promoting this for months- and seen little change. if you have begun to despair- please take this chance to remember the help you can offer is real, that a genocide is not anonymous lives. please offer that chance at life to this family. these are lives you can prevent being snuffed out. Let’s get them out of Gaza by the anniversary. Free Palestine!

I've been looking after this fundraiser since February and it still has yet to reach its goal. Please give the Almosalamis the final push they need to get all the way there!!!

If you donate, you can enter my book raffle (today is the last day to enter), or get a writing commission from me!

It means so much that others have been looking after Sharaf’s family’s fundraisers. Like @amotleycrew said, they are so close! Just $2,000 more and we will all have been a part of saving this family. It’s easy to forget, but that is REAL.

I know the sheer quantity of pleas for help can be overwhelming and numbing, but Sharaf’s friends and family have a number of other fundraisers, too. I can vouch for the validity of every single one of these!

Please please, if you have the means, donate to Doha’s fundraiser above. If you do, let me know and I will match your donation in the following fundraisers. Your one donation will help multiple families!

If you can’t donate, as always, please share! A reblog helps, too. You may be the person who gets this on the dash of someone with the means to donate $25, $50, $100 or more!

Was anyone gonna tell me we found who Cleo was??? The integration genius on math stack exchange from 10 years ago?

TLDR it was a professor from Uzbekistan named Viktor Reshetnikov who did it because he wanted people to be more interested in the niche problems people would post on there. Cleo wasn’t even his only account, he was doing multiple people

additional detail - he picked very tricky problems where he had a good guess for the answer but was really struggling to prove it. he would post the problem on an alt, then instapost what he thought was the answer as Cleo, and then hope that he could bait other people into doing the work to verify step by step that his solution was correct. and it worked a bunch of times!

previously he had just posted "hey i think this is the solution to this complex integral but i want help proving it" and then got zero interaction

sometimes when my mom gets drunk she goes into Liberated Women Mode, and one time she was real tipsy and while talking about her friend’s divorce, she very earnestly told me and my sister (both adults) that regardless of preference or relationship, she hoped we would both reach a point in our lives where we were having really good sex with really good people. and my sister said, β€œi do that now except the good people part” and i said, β€œsex is real?” and my mom didn’t love either of those answers

i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: what we want is for these things to be run like a HOUSEHOLD… a home. A household still has a budget and an income and resources to manage; all the moving parts are the same but the focus is different.

a business will let every person in it die a terrible death if it makes the business profit. A household will spend it’s last dollar to keep the people in it safe and healthy.

A household will use money as a resource to add value to the lives of the people in the household. A business will use people as a resource to add monetary value to the business

We don’t want a government run like a business, we want a country run like a household. Because we live here.

happy 12 year anniversary to the most memorable event in tumblr history

When this happened I printed out like a hundred copies of his face and stuck them all over the house to prank my mom who was also a SPN fan.

Unfortunately that was also the year we hosted our Japanese exchange student, who had never heard of SPN or Misha Collins before in her Japanese life, came home from school and quietly asked in a scared yet polite tone: "Who is this man?"

Thats a potion whose effect is β€œteleport straight to hospital”

when I was a kid I went camping and the adults at the big campsite went around and gave all the kids glowsticks and necklaces to wear at night (kids loved it, and adults knew where the kids were because none of them wanted to lose their prettyshiny)

Mine went straight in my mouth because it had a delightful plasticy feeling with a slight crunch if you really went for it. I chewed on that thing for ages. Until at some point I accidentally actually bit into it and it popper and I got glowstick all up in my mouth and down my shirt and it was horrible. One of (but not the worst) things I have ever had the misfortune of tasting. And I knew it had to be poison because it was probably radioactive goo or something and I was gonna die and my parents and everyone would know I died because I ate a glowstick and did something stupid

So I spat it out and washed my mouth really good with water and then wandered into the woods crying to die alone after everyone was asleep because I was clearly going to die from the poison and at least this way they might think I died getting eaten by animals or taken by ghosts or maybe they'd be happy because they never found my tiny child corpse and would assume I'd gone on to live a cool life amongst the trees.

Except at some point my parents woke up and everyone freaked out about a missing child in the woods and me being smart stuck to the trails so I was easy to find with my stupid glowing shirt and my glowing face and my bucket hat 2 or 3 miles down the path.

I told my parents I was worried people might think I was a stupid kid who died doing something stupid by eating a glow stick so instead I decided to run away into the woods forever or die and then nobody would think I was stupid. My folks listened carefully and then told me that was stupid.
