You and Neji have quite the interesting marriage and dynamic with your children to say the least.
The two of you had a traditional wedding with both his family and your family present. It wasn't a large ceremony but it wasn't small either, and it was very formal. It was only until after the wedding that the two of you were able to get more affectionate and lovey dovey with each other.
Neji is a very devoted and dutiful husband. He knows all of your needs, your wants, and wants to make sure that you are comfortable in every aspect of your life. He wants to ensure your utmost happiness in your relationship.
He made a vow to love you in sickness and in health, and he plans on keeping that vow. He will take care of you when you are sick, even when you aren't sick he's going to dote on you and make sure you are well taken care of.
The two of you both split the house chores evenly, and he always makes sure to do his end perfectly, he will not live a single speck in the house, it must all be squeaky clean. He's a clean freak that way.
His cooking skills are incredible. You need his food in his life, everytime that you try and copy his exact recipes you can never get your food to taste like this, which is why you sometimes call him "magic hands" you often joke about how his hands have a special touch that makes all of his food taste so good.
Now we come to Neji as a father.
Both you and Neji decided to have a few kids, two kids, maybe three, and you both are happy with your small family!
Throughout all of your pregnancies Neji was there, taking care of you, doting on you, and taking on more of the house chores so you would be able to rest as you moved further into your pregnancy.
Whenever you would call him over to feel the kicks in your stomach, he could never hold back the soft grin that would make it's way onto his face. He sometimes gets emotional. The thought of starting a family with the person he loves most in the world is like a dream come true to him.
When your children are finally born, he is there for it all. Holding your hand while you are giving birth, ignoring the painful death grip that you have on his hand. When your children finally come out he is always enamoured with how small and fragile they look, and he can not help the overwhelming amounts of love and protectiveness that wash over him the moment he finally meets his children for the first time.
He stares at their small face and gently vows to always love and protect them no matter what. He will be their rock throughout the heaviest storms of their lives. He will take care of all his children diligently. Feed them, rock them to sleep, change their nappies(even if it isn't the most pleasant experience at times). He does it all out of the love for their children.
He keeps a close eye on them especially in their toddler years. He doesn't want them to accidentally hurt themselves, if any harm came to them he'd blame himself.
He would enjoy playing with his children though, and training them in the shinobi arts. He'd want them to be strong and intelligent shinobi like him.
Neji is the type of father who is strict, however it's just because he wants the best for his children. He wants them to grow up to be the best versions of themselves, and if he sees them acting in a way he believes is detrimental to their potential he is going to correct them.
He has strict rules set in place for his children, and will not be too tolerable if they break them without good reason. However he does want to understand his children and understand why they would defy him, and try and see if he can find a common ground with them.
He doesn't punish his children extremely, but he makes sure to send a message that will stick with them.
He does not spoil his children too often either. He only gives them treats and gifts when he believes they deserve it, or if it's a special occasion like their birthday, or a holiday.
Most of the time you and Neji are in agreement with the way that you raise your children, however sometimes when you guys have disputes over parenting, he can get rather irritated. He thinks you're going too soft on the kids, and aren't disciplining them properly.
You remind him that sometimes firm hard discipline isn't necessary and children can be taught right from wrong in other ways, and it's important to be understanding towards them.
At first he's rather stubborn when you say this to him, he brushes it off as you just trying to make excuses for them, however he genuinely starts to think that perhaps you are right.
He makes more of an effort to try and understand his children more, and instead talk to them about things instead of just punishing them right away. He still makes sure they are disciplined of course, but tries to be more understanding of their behaviours.
However when you and Neji do get along as a parent duo, you are both unstoppable. Your kids know not to mess with you or Neji, and when the two are you are serious that's when they know that playtime is over.
If one of them is mouthing off to one parent, then you can bet that the other parent will be giving them one look that will make them rethink their entire behaviour that day.
It's never good for your children when the two of you are both angry at them, because that usually means that they will not be receiving any mercy at all, may someone save them.
On the brighter side when your children are behaving, your family often enjoys going on picnics in the forests together, and having playful training sessions.
You'll cheer on your children as they attempt to fight your husband(Neji huffs about how you should be on his side, but anyway-)
Since it's a playful sparring session, Neji doesn't go hard on his children, but he's not giving up easily either. He'll make sure that he gives them at least some form of a challenge.
It also doesn't help that you are loudly advocating for his kids to beat him up-
He will still obviously want to test their profiencies in ninjutsu, genjutsu, and especially taijutsu as that's his speciality, and he believes that people of Hyuga descent must be proficient in Taijutsu as it's a part of what makes their clan who they are.
They better have been practising gentle fist or they might just be in trouble.
When the spar session is over, all of you will gather around a picnic basket and eat delicious home baked food, and just talk and bond as a family. It's little moments like these that bring the family closer together, and strengthen your bond.
The bakeries are extremely delicious as well, what happy family doesn't bond over good food?
When the sky starts to get dark, your family packs up, and starts to head back home. When you reach home your children go to prepare for bed, while you and Neji clean up the house.
When your children are ready to be tucked in bed, you both say goodnight to them, and perhaps read them a bedtime story if they ask, then leave the room so they can sleep.
You both head to the living room, and sit together on the couch. The house was clean and the children were asleep. You both were exhausted from the day's activities however very satisfied. The house was quiet except for the soft snores of your children.
You both sat in comfortable silence for a while, until Neji spoke up.
"Thank you Y/N, for giving me this gift." A tender smile spread across your face at his words. As a child he honestly couldn't have ever dreamt of having such a loving happy like the one he had now.
"Thank you as well.. I wouldn't have asked for a better life than this one." You adored your family more than anything in the world, your husband, and your children were your whole heart.
He added "I genuinely don't believe that any dream could come as close as to the reality I am living right now with you. I always believed that my destiny was one of suffering and unhappiness, but ever since I met you, you convinced me otherwise, and that only further solidified itself when we got married and had our children."
Your heart fluttered as you spoke back to him "You saved me too you know. You gave me all of this, happiness, adventure, and little rascals that run around the house giving us headaches." You added the last part playfully.
A small smile crept on his face at your words "Well they may be headaches, but they are a good type of headache." You chuckled and shook your head, before grabbing his hand and tugging him to your shared bedroom.
The two of you both went to your room and got in bed together. You wordlessly snuggled into each other. You felt Neji press a small kiss on your forehead and sigh. "Goodnight love.." You spoke back "Goodnight to you as well darling." You both shortly fell asleep, exhaustion quickly taking over the both of you.
The dreams that you both had that night, truly did not compare to the reality of the life you both led, which was already a dream in itself.
