Finished college last week! I'm officially graduating in May!! Which means in the coming months I'll (hopefully) being designing up some more fun prints and characters, maybe even merch :)

I'm curious to see what my followers want to see more of tho so lmk!!

I also plan on opening commissions in the next few weeks! I'll be testing out Ko-Fi's comm page so follow me there to see when I open them!

As we see a barrage of evil executive orders come in, they are not immediately enforceable and will takes months or years to implement.

That’s still not great, but don’t let these pile up to the point of hopelessness. Take a breath, and look community leaders who will fight it every step of the way.

Reminder that when Trump was in office before a LOT of his orders got overturned or held up in lower courts for long enough that they became irrelevant. It also does not mean they WILL be enforced. Stand with your community where you can. The fight is not over. Do not obey in advance.

Last sentence above is the most important. Tyranny requires people to shut up and fall in line. Do not obey in advance.

hihi i just wanted to say your art is so gorgeous, and this may be the arcane hyperfixation but i think your artstyle is similar and thats SO COOL to me, its probably one of my favorite styles of all time

TY OMG!! That's very sweet I love that show's styles so much :')

ngl tho I can't stop looking at ur pfp LOL taking a long drag of my imaginary cigarette looking at it,,, I do miss my fish son I don't even watch that show anymore,,,

somehow for like the past year every single schedule change form i submit has gone missing and it make me feel insane 😭😭😭😭 i just remembered i need to email my advisor about that again oh god

You should go to the Palette and sit down with them there to discuss that because that's so genuinely stupid that they'd fumble your scheduling like that. If you can, ask if you can talk to the scheduling team in person cause as far as I'm aware they should be?? on-campus??

Who knows maybe they're all employed off-campus since we're never told anything ever about management faculty! My eye is twitching the more I remember how flawed the head administration is at communication and organization.

i hope it's okay to join in and throw in my two cents as someone who almost went to SAIC and decided against it and is instead going to CCC.

art school is Expensive and i'm not sure i could recommend it in good faith to anyone not wanting to be a traditional gallery and exhibition artist and who isn't independently wealthy. i cannot speak for SCAD but what i saw at SAIC was... lackluster to say the least. very heavy on traditional mediums with a weird disdain for anything digital or computer based. that paired with an insane tuition of 60k a year (not including housing+fees) and a weird vibe in general is what lead me to consider other options.

anon i do recommend that if your heart is set on going to art school, especially if it's an expensive one, try community college first and get some gened credits out of the way. this isn't to discourage you or get you to not go to an art school at all, but it's better to look into all your options available than jumping straight at an art school.

from personal experience, the best art professor i ever had was my painting/figure drawing professor in community college. this isn't to say that professors at art colleges suck, but there are good professors everywhere who will take you under their wing and show you the ropes.

and like the other anon said, talk to students not admissions. admissions are salespeople who really really want you to come and spend money, students will give it to you honestly. i wish you well anon :)

really glad anon's post has sparked this conversation as I feel it is so important for new graduates going into college.

YES please do community college first if you truly want to pursue an art degree! That was something I really should have done before going to RMCAD. There are other options outside of college as well (I've heard residencies are a good experience for students and non-students).

The main reason I'm even finishing up my classes soon is purely because I want this degree so bad after the hell I've been through getting to this point.

on anon so i dont doxx myself. @ other art school anon: if going into an art career is really what you want, and you have the means, art school can be beneficial in terms of skill development and industry connections. with that said, research and consider what school you're going to CAREFULLY, because its a huge money sink if it doesnt work out. my best recommendation is to talk to students there. not admissions staff anybody trying to sell you on it-- just average students. if you're physically touring, find someone that looks friendly and ask them to give it to you straight. a lot of college admissions (not just art school) straight up lie to you about a Lot.

i go to SCAD, and while i love my professors and have enjoyed parts of it, the administration is kind of a nightmare and the whole system is designed to squeeze 99% of its students dry of every money and then hoist the 1% that claw their way out as "proof that it works". i would not recommend it unless you have a very specific reason to go.

not to discourage you from art school ! i've heard of people having great experiences. just saying what i wish someone had told me.

also hi saturn! you definitely do not remember me but we talked a few times back in 2020 on twitter. good to see you doing well.

Yes, I agree 100% talk to students not admission staff. I'm glad anon you asked me about it because admissions (for any college really) will lie to your face with the biggest smile. They only want what's best for the college, not you or your career.

AND HELLO!! Hope u are doing well as well!! :]

can confirm RMCAD is kinda ass. idk if you ever had any problems with financial aid but my scholarships weren't applied for like 3 terms and my advisor dodged every effort i made to reach out to her 🙃🙃🙃 even my academic advisor just straight up ignored every inquiry about where the hell my financial aid was. not even a 'sorry i dont work in that department so idk' or 'i'll reach out to your advisor and see whats up' he literally just ignored them. answered all of my other questions EXCEPT all the ones where i was like "hey i haven't heard from my advisor in like 2 terms whats up with that." also my schedule has been fumbled like a billion times lmao

Yes to all of this. I am eternally grateful my family has been so wonderful in helping to communicate properly about financial aid with my college cause if I was alone I would be genuinely FUCKED.

I took a term off and asked financial aid if I'd lose my scholarship due to it. In writing, I got "No you will keep your scholarship". Got back from the term and found out they had dropped it! Then, they tried to tell me they didn't say I wouldn't lose it, which was when my lovely mother stepped in and tore them a new one + included the written evidence I wouldn't lose it. Needless to say, I got that scholarship back and still have it! Scheduling is god awful and most of my conversations with the multiple advisors I've been through were about fixing my scheduling.

Anonymous asked:

how would you rate your overall experience at RMCAD? im unsure if i wanna go to art school but if i DO end up choosing to, RMCAD is pretty high up on my list!!

Anon, I'm going to give a good, honest review about this college. The only reason I'm graduating from it is that it was the most affordable option for me, and by the time I realized this college really wasn't what it advertises itself to be, I was already two years in and said "screw it let's keep pushing".

Do not get me wrong, the on-campus professors at this college are incredible. I am an illustration major so I cannot speak on every single professor, but the illustration department across the board has been so wonderful. Only one illustration professor was iffy when it came to their course formatting, but that was one from the 4 years I've been here. Another good thing about the college is the campus, I haven't had issues with the campus and the resources on campus are great! My peers have been wonderful and have made it even more worth being here for 4 years. Techbar and the Fablab staff are great and they've helped with anything I need to get made or fixed.

For the bad: The organization from the financial team and scheduling is abysmal. I will not go into all the details, but if you want a god-awful crunch due to 8-week classes, no summer break, constant advisor changes that make it awful to communicate what your schedule needs, and student finances fumbling around even just a few times (sometimes a lot)? Then apply! It is an exhausting school not even because of the workload. Online courses sometimes are also just nothing-burger classes with professors that have bad communication.

No college is perfect, applying to any art college you will have your flaws and benefits. I know other classmates have had it worse while on the other end, I've had classmates move through the college fine! More the former than the latter, unfortunately.

I cannot speak for other colleges. I do not know if others are worse and maybe my college is a godsend in comparison to others, but this is my honest experience. Don't let my harsh criticism of my college drive you away from art school if you want that degree go get it hell yeah!!

I hope your college search goes well anon! I'm rooting for you!! If you want to talk more about either my college or just college search you're free to dm me o7

Hey! If you're in the Colorado area and want to see my work in person, my graduation gallery @ RMCAD just opened yesterday night! It'll be up in the Mary Harris auditorium until January 10th!

Tuesday I'll be dropping off my stickers that JUST arrived as well!

(and hopefully the tarot cards I ordered will also arrive in time lol)
