I like to contribute to rarepairs! You can always request the ship you don't see often (or at all) and if I'm vibing with it (I do pretty much always unless it's an unhealthy thing. Underage with an adult - biggest no, don't suggest that. Almost anything else could work out if enough thought is put into characters' dynamic) I'll draw a little something!

Haha, I spend numerous evenings editing and fixing even the tiniest snippets so that maybe they end up decent.. trying to learn a different punctuation system and fix my not so great grammar as I go doesn’t add any confidence— so thank you, I’m happy to know that you like my stuff! I really appreciate it

Hahah thanks! It’s always one of these two pre-installed brushes in clip studio. I use them for almost all my stuff

And I think that this is their shared brush shape, although slightly adjusted?

In my opinion, your brush isn’t responsible for how your lines look. The way you move your hand does, as well as how much pressure you apply in the process (for me it’s barely any and I draw this way with the simplest round brush too), etc. Having my brush settings won't help much in replicating what you like in my lines. Better go for the vibes!

For my mer!aus I picked a tiger shark for Zoro (a very common choice within the fandom) and a pack ice killer whale for Smoker (I didn't know there were so many orca ecotypes before doing a small research for those stories! this one and some other antarctic types actually have a brownish cast to their coloration because of diatoms living on them—). I kind of just went for the vibe :D

Ah, thank you!! I'm learning anatomy very slowly, but I'm glad if the results look good as they are to some!

As for the reasons why russian and japanese artists seem to be good in anatomy in general... Well, if I were to speak for the russian art community, I think it's because of our art schools and universities teaching traditions? Studying the traditional way is pretty hardcore and pressures you to know everything to a T, anatomy included. So I think that this must be it, a mindset mostly. I can only speak from what I hear from my art friends that study at traditional schools though and I DON'T know how they're all still mostly safe and sound... I myself have never undergone that kind of conservative studying programs, not as a kid and not now at my uni. I'm here for the fun of it and not suffering :_)

Similarly with Japan, I suppose? Actually, they seem to never stop until the work is done at the highest level, no matter what the subject is 😭 They're pretty insane in a positive but also slightly concerning way (like are you people sleeping at all. how are you making two fully rendered pieces a day every day for a whole year)
