Pre veilguard there was always the possibility that Solas was bound by a geas. So many theories! It explains why he is so angry when Inquisitor drinks from the well.

I was watching the well of sorrows cutscene with a flycam and you can see enchantment bindings all over his face as Inquisitor gets binded to the well. If it is not the case then why put it in game? Or did they retconned it? This is terrible and it adds so much.

It is similar to that of the inquisitor if they drink from the well.

video of that scene

It does not seem like a glitch since it does not happen to other companions?

Btw I do remember someone sharing this flycam screenshot before but I cannot find that post.

Thinking about how in dav he tells both the Rook and the Inquisitor that he cannot stop—not that he won’t, but that he cannot.

I kinda hope that Solas was not under a geas? Lackluster however it might be but the regret theme makes his character very interesting and complex, which I love so much.

"Thinking about how in dav he tells both the Rook and the Inquisitor that he cannot stop—not that he won’t, but that he cannot."

I rant about this all day every day to anyone who will listen lmaoooo he's so careful with his wording, even in Trespasser, constantly contrasting what he WANTS to do from what he MUST do or CAN'T do, and I am fuckinG Y E L L I N G that flycam animations further back this up, I've never seen this before. !!!! Between this and the magical glow around him as soon as Morrigan's Mythal-projection says "I release you from my service"...............

Also, Solas can still have some regrets and be complex even with magical fuckery afoot! People who resist slavery, especially traditional Trickster figures who resist slavery in indirect and clever ways (... like in DA canon stories of Fen'Harel escaping...) are super complex!!! It just means his complexity is less about villainy and more about being villainized or allowing people to think he's a villain, doing harm while bound, trying to figure out the ambiguous boundaries between his true desires and his bindings, plus playing a thousand-years-old chess game against slavers while still constrained in some ways by his slaver's original goal of regaining full power.

I think devs and EA probably feared that running with the Solas binding plot would make players who want to hurt him mad, or would be seen as diminishing him, making him one-dimensional or weak, etc, and I honestly would like to argue that the latter is only true if someone thinks enslaved people are just passively helpless and brainwashed, instead of fighting their oppression with every clever tool they can possibly grab hold of. I love a resistance narrative.

I'm pretty sure it's an invasive species. 🧶

Modified from the pattern "Velociraptor" by Megan Lapp (Crafty Intentions) The body is crocheted in acrylic yarn, then wired and stuffed with poly-fil. I followed the velociraptor pattern up to the end of the body, then did my own thing for the head and neck, as well as all the detailing. Details were added with needle-felting and dry-brushing with chalk pastels, then lightly brushing over the body with a thin! coating of Mod Podge. The result isn't exactly soft or fluffy, but due to the wire frame, almost every part of it can be adjusted for posing: the tail, neck, head, arms, legs, and feet, so it's perfect for display. 10" tall x 13" long.

Solas wakes up in the strange new world of his own making and it terrifies him. Ridden with guilt, he joins the Inquisition and begins his lonely research in order to correct his mistake.

He doesn’t expect to find consolation in the presence of a human who wields ancient elven magic without knowing it. Who is way too gentle for an elgar’thanelan, but doesn’t know that either.

Solas, for his part, doesn’t know how to stay away.

Dorian wonders if the mysterious elf just enjoys playing with a Tevinter. He wouldn’t expect anything else.
