Whirl stopping Cyclonus from self-harming is really… I feel like their relationship is defined by violence in a way. They’re two of the most physically dangerous bots on the Lost Light, and a lot of their communication happens through the medium of physical violence. But the line between violence and affection blurs with these two. Hell, Cyclonus was literally hugging Whirl when he promised to kill him. Over time, they both change, and now, there’s no reason for violence to exist as a precedent to their proximity. Whirl doesn’t just not want to hurt Cyclonus, he doesn’t want Cyclonus to be hurt.
