You know, it pisses me off so much for reasons I can't articulate that they figured out shit for Woolsey to do in the same nonmilitary, leadership role that was supposed to be what Elizabeth was doing, but figuring out how to incorporate Weir into the story as a fully fleshed out and developed character was "too hard".
"Sometimes, Elizabeth makes a decision early on and gets locked into it. That's a problem." "She is not the only one who suffers from that affliction." Stargate: Atlantis S1E13: "The Hot Zone" aka John & Elizabeth arguing like a married couple for 43 minutes (ft. everybody else hovering uncomfortably in the background)
Elizabeth in the SGA pilot took one look at John Sheppard and was like "please Colonel O'Neill sir I need this confused failwife of a man on my potentially deadly intergalactic expedition even though he only learned that aliens exist 10 minutes ago and has no idea what he's getting into!!!!!" like this was a normal request and then Jack just went along with it and basically told John he'd be an idiot if he chose not to go. Despite the fact that at the time this was a one-way trip. Everyone in this franchise is insane
