My pastor asked me to teach church history because the resources available were too dry and I'm incapable of teaching it dryly. I mean.... who can look at church history and just reading stats and figures? History was alive, IS alive. People actually did these things. You had a guy literally look at the Roman emperor and tell him to get lost TO HIS FACE when he was told he would get burned alive if he did. And then he was set on fire. And when that didn't kill him, he was beheaded because .... the emperor was sooo pissed that the guy was still not upset and willing to bend. You have another guy who was so willing to die for Christ that they literally had to have meetings on "Is it better to die for Christ or to live and spread the message?" He chased legions around spreading the Word BECAUSE it was illegal trying to get martyred. He started a school to spread the Word in the middle of Rome to tweak Rome's nose and when they finally came for him, he asked them to hurry up so he could go home. I mean...how can you talk about this like it's math?
