shipping fictional characters together as an adult is actually very fun and i encourage it. it is also one of the worst things you can do to yourself and should not be attempted. it's very simple really.
pros of shipping fictional characters as an adult: having a more mature and experienced outlook on people and relationships actually opens up a lot of new funny, interesting, and even thoughtful ways of engaging with the concept of fictional people kissing. also, it's fun.
cons of shipping as an adult: you will inevitably form an extremely niche and personal interpretation of the relationship between your favorite fictional people who you want to smash together like barbie dolls or possibly on-fire waste disposal trucks, and become extremely annoyed by the popular fan interpretations that are bland and formulaic by comparison. but since you are also involved in the deeply cringe activity of getting emotionally invested in a fictional relationship you have no chance of being taken seriously if you complain about it, and therefore no choice but to try to ignore it and make your own content that is liked by 3 of your friends who are the only like-minded people you respect and that one account that likes everything you post anyway
Posting this now or else I never will 😭 can someone please give my girl 1) a break 2) a kiss.

New ask game:
Reblog if you want your followers to tell you what your trademark ™️ is. Like, what’s that thing that really identifies you.
"you're the writer, you control how the story goes" no not really. i wrote the first sentence and then my characters said "WE WILL TAKE IT FROM HERE" and promptly swerved into an electrical fence.
Fanfic ask game: 💖
Whoop! 💖 = what made you start writing?
Honestly, I think I was about 4 or 5 when I "wrote" my first story, and before that age I apparently made stuff up and told it to whoever would listen...but I have no idea why I did it! I guess I just loved books and stories and being read to, and wanted to make my own. (My idea of a really good time as a kid was being on my own, either reading or playing at make-believe – kind of says it all 😂🙈).
In terms of fanfic, a friend introduced me to ff.net (so we're talking way back when and I'm showing my age) and Rizzoli & Isles and NCIS fanfic, and I was into Rizzles enough to give it a go. Then I think I dabbled in some Holby City before Miss Fisher's Muder Mysteries took over, then Harry Potter, now Wheel of Time. Basically, as a writer, I'm really obsessed with people and why they do what they do, no matter the setting, and fanfic is a really good way to play about with other people's characters and worlds in a way that I wouldn't necessarily do in my own original work 🥰
i feel like the youth should be reminded that the point of shipping is not for a ship to become canon. the point of shipping is to collect all the canon crumbs like starved mice, run away cackling and make some fun little scenarios with them just for the hell of it.
I can't stop singing it.
!!!!!
For the fanfic asks - 🧠
Lia, and Verin, because we can't have one without the other! 🩷
Hehe, of course we can't!
So, my favourite headcanon for a character (or two)...but there's no way I can pick just one 😂. I'll avoid any headcanons with major show/book spoilers, but these are some favourite general ones, in no particular order:
🧠 Liandrin couldn't read or write properly when she arrived at the Tower - because who would have taught her /when would she have had the chance, considering her background? - and Verin taught her while she was a novice. (I think I've dropped that in almost every show-verse fic I've written for them, and you can prise it out of my cold dead hands 😂🥰)
🧠 Verin also sneaked honey cakes to novice Liandrin as well as to Moiraine and Siuan, because she knows a starving wet cat in need of some TLC when she sees one. And speaking of cats...
🧠 Verin is a cat lady. I know in book canon she has a little owl in her room to keep down the mice - in my canon she has a stray cat or two (the kind of cats who will only allow her and no one else to pet them, and who hiss every time poor Tomas comes into the room). I haven't written that into anything yet, but I'm definitely going to!
🧠 Also, Verin drinks spicy tea. I have no basis for that whatsoever, I just wrote it once and now it's stuck in my mind.
🧠 On a more serious note, I think Liandrin absolutely has some form of PTSD/CPTSD from her childhood, and that in many ways the Tower exacerbates that (switching and physical punishment for novices, the experiences of the Arches and testing for the shawl - both known to be pretty physically, mentally and emotionally brutal), along with the worry and presumably the financial stress of having to somehow take care of her son. I think Verin is one of the few Sisters compassionate and observant enough to see and understand some of that, even if she never knows the details - although I also like to think that in some turn of the Wheel (ie in most of my fics), Liandrin would trust her enough to talk.
🧠 Last but not least, Verin is absolutely soft domme in bed.
March's Year of the OTP fic - modern AU angst!! (As opposed to show-verse angst...but there's always angst somewhere). Lawyer Verin, tattoo artist Liandrin, a whole lot of hurt/comfort.
After everything she's done, she thinks, Verin shouldn’t be here, in front of her, holding her hand, telling her that the past will eat her alive if she lets it. Verin shouldn’t be waiting patiently for her to find her voice. Verin should be long gone, or should at least be satisfied with the pathetic explanation that Liandrin had just needed a break. Verin shouldn’t care enough to want more.
OR
Liandrin has a mini-breakdown. Verin (of course) sticks around to help her through it.
