It also got co-opted by establishment democrats, and as as result didn't result in any meaningful systemic change.

One of my favorite tidbits about Oblivion is that, when Bethesda brought Patrick Stewart in to play Uriel Septim, they gave him this big 90-page booklet detailing the character’s history and background and motivations, and they were really worried that they’d gone overboard and given him too much.  Meanwhile, Stewart was delighted–he’s said that it was the best character prep he’d ever been given, and he wished more people would do that.

It starts with telling you about this specific incident and then drops on you the fact that train robberies are happening more and more in recent years and a couple of reasons are because there are so few railroads is very easy to figure out which one is carrying a specific shipment *and* that because trains are forced to be so long nowadays (many are multiple miles long) they don't even know they've been robbed most of the time until it's long gone.

Fantastic advice!! And something I’ve realized I’ve been doing for myself these last 6-7 years, even though I never had a name for it.

Seriously, this is such a great way to go about organizing your home.

I really can’t express how much easier your life can be when you accept that there’s no objectively right way to do this kind of stuff, especially when you let go of the idea that it’s a moral failure when you can’t do something the “correct way” nor is it evidence of you being lazy.

Working with (leaning into) your natural limits and instincts can do wonders for you in your day-to-day life.

i'm going to say something that some people might not like. but many, many things they're doing to trans people they did first to migrants. banning/refusing visas is just one of those things. to act like these things have never happened to anyone before is at best disingenuous and at worst outright racist.

wtf is this post even saying, by definition as soon as you need a visa you r a migrant yourself, how is it ignoring the experiences of immigrants to say that immigration is harder when ure trans ?

This post is talking about the migrants of color that are kept in concentration camps at the border by the US government that people have been ignoring for the past decade plus. This post is also talking about any migrants affected by the past Muslim Ban from several years ago, this is talking about migrants from the Global South who don't have "strong enough" passports to be let in to the US without significant effort. This post is not talking about white trans people who are moving to Europe or whatever. This post is specifically made with annoyance at white USAmerican trans people who do not acknowledge that when they say "Trump is going to put trans people into camps!" or "Trans people are the canary in the coal mine" it is RACIST because people of color, especially "illegal" migrants to the US, INCLUDING trans people because none of you seem to believe that "illegal" migrants can be trans, have been experiencing the brunt of fascism for decades.

don’t talk to ME about gay yearning. in 2020 during lockdown i lived alone on a boat for three months. i went ashore once a day to work in a marine bio lab. we all had to access the lab at different times so we were never together & risking infection. i was alone all day every day, from my boat to the lab and back to my boat. one day a woman anchored her boat beside mine. we passed each other ashore just once at the harbor and she hit on me and invited me back to her boat. i told her i’d love nothing more but i could not risk exposure because of my weak immune system. she said it was a shame but that she understood. that night i was watering my vegetable garden i grew in 5 gallon buckets up on my roof and playing music on my speaker. “american pie” came on and she climbed up on her roof and shouted all the lyrics to every verse at me across the water and we danced together on our respective roofs. she raised anchor and moved on a few days later.

so yeah i know what it is to die a thousand deaths in an instant while your heart beats on.
