I've ranted in the tags of this post before but I just want to show off the most radicalizing display of how evil golf courses are I've ever seen!! This is in Tucson, Arizona. One of the biggest public parks in town, which contains baseball fields and a rose garden and a public pool and the ENTIRE zoo is HALF THE SIZE OF THE GOLF COURSE NEXT DOOR. Ignoring the fact that we live in a Fucking Desert and are constantly being reminded by the government to conserve water while this fucking MONSTROCITY is allowed to exist, I just cannot get over how goddamn evil it is that the people in this city are given one half the space the golf course is.

And the park is crowded, btw!! There are ALWAYS hundreds of people there having birthday parties and taking quinceañera and prom photos, the zoo is really popular, Tucson Pride usually sets up at the park, and there's an outdoor amphitheater and a baseball field and a huge dog park and several playgrounds and two beautiful ponds, but nah rather than prioritize all that a golf course that probably sees a fraction of the traffic is allowed to take up SO MUCH SPACE. And actually, recently the Tucson Zoo wanted to expand--which is understandable, it's a VERY small zoo--but rather than try to target the golf course the city almost decided to give like a fourth of THE PARK to them because we should just fuck over the thousands of people who use this beloved public space daily rather than for a single second consider that the golf course is a fucking unethical waste of space and water that should not be allowed to exist.

Golf is a fucking plague and I would do anything to see this space converted into anything else. It's so big you could expand the park, the zoo, AND probably build a bunch of affordable housing no problem. But no, sorry the rich fucks in this town have to waste loads of water keeping a bunch of GRASS alive in the SONORAN DESERT so they can fuck around all day while the rest of us have to be happy with what space we're allowed all the while living in fear that the city will just decide to give a bunch of it away.

Fuck golf.

Okay. Say you ask a small child to draw you a house, and they come up with something like this:

For the purposes of this analogy the child is shit at colouring in, because I only wanted to give the general idea.

So, we can all agree that the child who draws a house probably isn't trying to communicate anything in particular other than “look at this cool house I drew”, right?

Cool.

So… Why is it seemingly in the middle of nowhere, when most children live in houses with neighbours?

Why is the main body a square and the roof a solid triangle when that doesn't look like any house that has ever been built anywhere?

Why does it have a wood-burning stove with smoke actively coming out of the chimney, even though the sun indicates warm weather?

Why is the sun smiling? Why is it yellow?

Answer: because the child has seen picture books, and films, and the drawings of other children, and has on some level absorbed that this is what a house is meant to look like.

Face to face, the child almost certainly wouldn't know where to begin communicating “yellow is a colour culturally associated with happiness and warmth, and two dots accompanied by a curved line symbolically represent a smiling human face, so I have combined these attributes with the sun to convey that it is a very warm and pleasant day”.

Or “historically most houses in my country used fire for heat and cooking, and even though this is no longer the case for the majority of households, most media portrayals of houses are inspired by other, older, media portrayals and therefore include the chimney. I have chosen to follow this trend.”

Or even, “I have poor motor control because of my age, and large, 2 dimensional shapes are easier to draw than anything involving detail and perspective”.

Yet this is all information that you can pick up from detailed study of the house drawing.

Ultimately, it's not about what the writer intended. That's what the whole death of the author thing means.

If you think of literature like as a conversation, then think of all the analysis stuff that your English teacher keeps trying to get you to look at as like body language. It's the stuff that the other person doesn't even necessarily mean to communicate, but that can tell you a hell of a lot about what they mean.

Also, a poem written by a poet who got high is still a poem written by a poet.

People love to say dismissive bullshit like, "oh, that's just the drugs talking" but actually, drugs can't fucking talk! It is always the human being doing the talking regardless of how intoxicated they are. The drugs are not creating the poetry. The poet's mind is creating the poetry. A person doesn't stop being a person just because they took something.

genuinely i think that if your game's complex hyperdetailed character creator can't make an accurate mario it's a failure

can you make a short guy who's fat and has a big nose. or did you put all your budget into making five different glans options

it's crazy how i'm constantly seeing discourse on weather or not it's "reactionary" to hate ai art on tumblr, and than when i go on twitter 99 percent of ai art is just this shit over and over again.

of course to be fair miyazaki also made "the wind rises" so it's not like traditional art has never been a tool used to spread propaganda, but it feels like every ai art trend just results in both the corniest and also most offensive "art" imaginable, because the majority of people participating in said trend dont' really give a shit.

[ID: Four panel comic with crudely drawn stick people.

Panel 1: A lime green person with a round head is talking to an olive green person, who has a square head. A grayscale person with a round head is interjecting from the side.

Olive: "So I do actually have a lot of issues with tetraphobia from round head green people. It's an issue I really think should-"

Grayscale: "Haha so true! Round greens are the worst! I hate round greens!"

Panel 2: Zoom in on Olive, looking frustrated. They say:

"No. Disappear."

Panel 3: Zoom on grayscale, who begins talking and continues into the next panel.

"wow okay so this unprovoked hostility is exactly why the chromatic movement is losing popularity every single day. you're lucky i don't become chromophobic now, even though

[the panel cuts off, the grayscale person is still talking while walking away in the next panel]

you have been treating me like this. I used to be an enthusiastic follower of chroma ideology and even said green people are actually green, so i hope you're proud of yourself for alienating your sorely needed allies. i will no longer support you and your chromagenda"

Panel 4: While the above monologue occupies half the panel, a gold person shows up. Olive: "So as I was saying-" Gold: "Hey why are you defending round head green people's tetraphobia? They're not above criticism!" Olive: "I am not doing that." Lime, in small text: "how do you have the stamina for this"

End ID.]

i think the metaphor has run its course... It's getting increasingly hard to tell what's supposed to be a metaphor for what and what it is these comics are actually talking about

i like that the name nuzlocke stuck. like the original thing was just called hard mode but it featured a nuzleaf named after locke from lost and to this day its still called a nuzlocke. theres even variations like wonderlocke. like the locke part became a suffix. i like that. i really like how words happen

Anonymous asked:

how do you respond to the fact that there are two million arabs in israel with equal rights?

  • The fucking Nakba law prohibits PCI (Palestinians in the settler state) to discuss or commemorate the tragedy of the Nakba
  • The Arabs who were allowed to stay following the war in 1948 were subjected to military rule until 1966.
  • A Jewish person has the right to return and claim their citizenship, an Arab or PCI and their descendants in diaspora who is native to Palestine and the settler-occupied territories are not.
  • A Jewish convert in the west is somehow more eligible to citizenship in the settler state than a Palestinian Arab in the diaspora.
  • There is a wage gap between PCIs and Jewish people in the settler state;
  • More than half of the PCI families in the settler state are poor.
  • The settler state issued a Nation-state law in 2018 that stated that self-determination is unique to the settler state. Arabic lost its status as an official language and the settler-state mandates and promotes the establishment and development of kibbutzim.
  • This gives precedence to settlements in the West Bank as the Likud party considers the West Bank (Judea Samaria, lol) to be part of the settler state.
  • PCIs are not allowed to develop their own infrastructure or settlements unless with a permit, which is impossible to get if you're PCI.
  • Many PCI communities are forbidden the right to a weapon's license unlike their Jewish counterparts.
  • The Call to Prayer ban by Ben Gvir.
  • East Jerusalem Palestinians account for 350.000 of the Arabs in the settler state civil registry. They are not eligible to vote.
  • PCI communities are treated like fifth columns;
  • 70% of PCIs are afraid of expressing their opinions on social media about Palestine, fearing backlash from the Settler state community. A notable case is when Israeli students started chanting "death to arabs" when a student expressed their sympathies for the Palestinians. The PCI student was expelled.

No, 1.65 million Arabs/PCI are not enjoying the same rights as their jewish counterparts in the ethnosupremarcist state.
