during the salem witch trials, the witches —the real ones— tore a rift between realms. they found a plane that was populated sparsely, only by faint manifestations of the elements. they made this world their own, and did their best to cover their tracks. they did a good enough job, but they couldn’t defy the laws of the world. the barrier between worlds becomes thinner, easier to move through between 12-3 am and 12-3 pm, and all through out halloween.
now, during the present day, the country of new salem is much like ours. except its mostly contained to where new england was, and is almost entirely populated by those that are supernatural. witches govern to this day, over seeing government in the capital, new salem city. theres the vampire courts, the packlands, zombeeze, and old country. old country is where the veil is the thinnest, due to the initial tear that was made all those years ago.
time works differently here. even though the year is technically 2025, we’re about 15 years behind those in the mortal realm. things like internet, media, and social media still exist, but only release in the same way they did in 2010.
transport is different too. since this world is much less physical than the one below it, travel is much easier. things like busses and trains still run, but they sort of just.. teleport, from the perspective of someone looking in. it still takes time for the person traveling, but it is essentially teleportation.
every day i spend here, i realize more and more this world isn’t for me. its horrible here. for every beauty this world has to offer, theres two horrid things that taint it. its nothing like this back home. home is beautiful. i love my bestfriend, and my grandma. i like my ears and tail, and i like my school. i love my music. i make music there. here my art is pen and paper, but there i sing. and i play. there i am wanted. i love my home. new salem is my home. it is home to people like me. vampires, werepeople, ghosts, and zombies, and every other ghoul out there. i cant wait to travel. ive always wanted to go to other otherworlds. i want to travel the multiverse. but i have to go home first.
