I hate that so many debates are based on one being a heterosexual couple and the other a homosexual couple. I hate—I mean, I know the setting, the era in which the series is set clearly gives a lot of weight to this topic, but I mean—

I hate that a sexuality is a reason to give more credibility to a ship. I hate the security you have just because Mileven is heterosexual. I hate that you treat the LGBT community like a statistic. I hate that you treat us like crazy just for thinking that a gay couple could be the main character on such a popular show.

I know the way I think about things is too far from becoming reality. We'll probably never put sexualities aside and never think that it's just about love and that's it.

But it's so… frustrating… I love watching Mike and Will. They seem so cute together, they complement each other so well, and you'd have to be blind not to realize they love each other. But then I see mainly people on TikTok discussing sexuality, comments that are clearly homophobic, and I just wonder day and night why it's so hard for them to see things as they are without overthinking the issue.

I mean, sorry if I'm explaining myself poorly, it's clearly an important point for Mike to understand his sexuality and the LGBT community to be visible.

It's simply… I would like that at some point, being part of this community wouldn't feel like having to make MORE effort to be able to win at something.

How did you guys join the byler fandom?

When I watched the series for the second time (up to season 3), I started paying more attention to Mike and Will's relationship. It's not even about paying "more" attention, it's just about watching the series. God, they're the first characters to have time alone on screen.

I remember that they started to seem too cute to me, although, as always, Mike season 3 messed things up a bit. I didn't hate him, I never did, I just thought he was an idiot with an unhealthy obsession with his girlfriend.

Well, at first, everything was very vague. I've always been one to ship things that aren't canon but fuel my happiness (drarry, I'm talking to you, you started this.) But then…

Then that moment came.

When Eleven broke up with Mike and Will smiled. I had to watch the scenes like four times to be sure of what I was seeing. At that moment, it was like, there's something here.

And well, days later, fate put a link on my Pinterest board to a book on Wattpad with Byler theories. That was in 2020.

Since then, I've been in this boat.

it's always jancy or stancy but never what the hell happened with stonathan. steve told the cruelest things possible to jon when he was going through the worst time in his life. he went to jonathan's house instead of nancy's. he apologized indirectly with a new camera but didn't say it was him. they never spoke again. like what happened there?? they saved each other's lives fought side to side yet. there's a void. steve didn't even confront jonathan when he thought nancy was cheating on him with him. and then just changed his mind and nevermind, everything's alright, go date or whatever. like?? not even a little talk with jon?? no nothing?? what's going on
