- This happens after Gi-hun and Junho successfully manage to destroy the games and expose everything.
- Gi-hun goes to visit Inho in jail because he needs to understand Inho's reasons so he can get closure.
- Over time, as Gi-hun gets to know Inho better, including his past and the suffering he endured from losing his family, Gi-hun gradually falls in love with him against his better judgment (Inho is already in love with Gi-hun and has been in love with him for years now) ❤️
and they have hannibal-coded conversations about philosophy and humanity (in a gay way)
the first couple of visits gi-hun is mostly silent and he just looks at him in a broken way while in-ho stares back, at some point saying something like "what do you want to see in me, gi-hun?"; "don't call me that"; "are we no longer on a first-name basis then?"; "we never were, young-il"
then he eventually starts talking with him trying to understand his point of view and why would someone who won the games decided to contribute to their existence, and in-ho is always so calm and collected even behind those bars it pisses gi-hun off
and then at some point in-ho is like
"I always wanted the best for you, gi-hun. you won. why can't you let your past go and live a happy life now? find yourself a family. go see your daughter. ah, you can't, can you? you know better than let her see what have become of you. you can't come back to what you were back then, and it feels excruciating, doesn't it? you always ask me why I came back to the games back then, why I decided to become the frontman. you ask me this, like you don't know the answer, but you do. you and me, we are alike, gi-hun. different sides of the same coin, if you wish. tell me, do you see my reflection in every mirror you walk by? can you hear my voice in your deepest of dreams? feel my presence in the room full of strangers? you want me to be wrong - about humanity, about you, but you keep proving my point every time you come back here, to me. the tragedy of our lives is hidden in the unspoken mutual understanding that despite being so different, we could never find anyone in this world who would understand us the way we understand each other. this is the reason why I could never make myself hate you, even when every belief of mine and my own life and freedom were on stake. and this is the reason why you can't hate me now, even when you know it would make it easier to forget, to move on. but you can't. you can't, because you will never find anyone outside of this room who would understand the language of what happened to us. this is why every time you leave this room, telling me with your heart you will never come back, I know that you will. and this is also why every time I tell you I could easily escape my prison, you never tell anyone else about it. because you know I won't do it. I want you to now exactly where I am, where you could always find me. the only soul that makes you feel seen. how could I take it from you?"
Having gay conversations about philosophy and humanity is the highest way of showing homoromantic or homoerotic love 🫦
Ooooh, I love your dialogues and your headcanons and perspectives on this! The fact that they're different sides of the same coin is just chef's kiss, THAT INHO DIALOGUE OF YOURS WAS CHEF'S KISS, my favourite line was "you will never find anyone outside of this room who would understand the language of what happened to us" OMGGGG THIS. IS. JUST. GENIUS!!
I'm a sucker for the foils trope, thank you for feeding us ❤️ AND YESSS PLEASE WRITE IT! If you do end up writing it, please tag me or let me know ❤️
