the one thing about sunrise on the reaping that I didn’t like was that if felt like by having haymitch and burdock be best friends and have katniss remind him of louella suzanne was trying to make katniss and haymitch’s relationship more meaningful and deep and connected somehow but that’s not necessary. their dynamic was already great as it was, before we knew about that connection.
and I think this is why I couldn’t get behind a ballad of songbirds and snakes. snow can just be a dictator who wants to kill katniss because he’s violent and truly believes tyranny is the only way to get the districts in line. it doesn’t have to be because she somehow reminds him of his situationship from 60 years ago.
