I’m doing the dishes
it’s a warm spring day
I watch out the window as my neighbours wiener dog wanders out into the garden in its little blue bandana
I stop, mesmerised.
It’s sniffing flowers — carnations, I think — for quite some time until it becomes excited by a bird overhead and bounces around to chase it’s shadow
the dog returns to the sunlit spot by the flowers and flops over, belly up, to bask in the warm light
“I want to be that dog” I say to myself. “I want to share with the world the peaceful joy that dog must be feeling right now.”
I try to take a picture; my zoom is not enough. I get weird and grab my pigeon-watching binoculars to get a better zoom, line my phone camera up with the lens. And I take one single, illicit, sleepy dog picture.
I hope the ends justified the means.
I bet that dog is having a really nice day.

Have you ever dealt with quaternions in 3D maths? When I learned them in a course, they were my favorite way to do 3D stuff (non-programming) in college, but most classes just taught matrix transformation on vectors instead.

Once More Wiv Feeling

This is it. The real deal and the Holyfield. There are still parts i feel like i could have done better, but at the end of the day, i'm happy enough wiv this to put a bow on it, and finally close the book on Nobeta.
Things i've learned:
- as much as i love creatures in LittleBigPlanet. i really need to avoid having them prominently featuring in my sets. i'm not certain if it's the creature brains, or the legs, but something produces a very distinct, persistent buzzing when they're around. It's not as noticeable when you're playing LBP, 'cause they don't tend to last too long, but having it as an ever-present undertone on a 20minute video really started to get on my tits.
- having one base background clip (in this case the moving painting) that i could cut the more important, or just random, b-roll clips into really helped to tie everything together. i tossed the painting together between the first and second versions of the video, so i could see in comparison, and it made a huge difference. i had used something similar way back wiv R15F, when i needed to make one long b-roll clip per level to get around ShareFactory's 10PiP limit, but this is the first time i've done it as an aesthetic choice.
- even pretty thoroughly laying out what points i want to hit on in my head, talking for 20minutes straight on a topic is a hell of a lot, and you can see things get a little scattershot midway through when i'm trying to get through some more delicate, less concrete points (i really wish i could have been more clear on the distinction of if [spoilers] should be read as a masking response to trauma, like an internalization of incorrect ideas of self, or as a distinct entity like an alter). i'm wondering if maybe i shouldn't try recording the VO separate in Audacity, and then record the video in LBP, and splicing the audio track in in Shotcut. It would let me break up the speaking, even do multiple takes and cut them together, and focus purely on acting in the set for a bit more of a dynamic look, but it would mean an extra step of work, and i worry it might lose some of the spontaneity of my usual style. It's something to think about for future projects.
- there is just so much more i could have talked about, just focusing on story and character analysis. i'm glad i didn't, it would have just bloated the video to not much gain, but still it was hard to keep from haring off in whatever direction distraction took me.
i could nanner on more. i could always nanner on more, but i'm tired, and i still haven't gotten a shower in yet. i hope folx like the video. i poured a lot more into it than it likely deserved.
