  • i draw baldur's gate fanart of the original series (not bg3). here are my who is xan and what is xan x radri posts. feel free to send me asks about this, i like talking about them
  • i previously drew kotor 2 fanart, particularly atton x exile. if you enjoy my atton x exile, you may also enjoy demonrise, my visual novel
  • my star wars merch and baldur's gate stickers are available on my shop. despite my love for them, these are not popular enough for me to restock, so if you see something you like, i suggest getting it before stock runs out forever

finally starting another dress :') i've had the fabric cut out for weeks but only just actually started sewing it today. 2 hours later and i've only finished the rouleau loops T_T

1 week later and i'm 90% done!! just need to trim, hem, and attach the skirt, plus sew on all 16 buttons

reading mistborn. why was i just forced to slog through a chapter-long meeting

#am i at work? did i clock in for this shift? literally why#this meeting couldn't have been an email but i could've been spared the play by play#i think there are better ways to worldbuild than to make me a fly on the wall in the world's dullest planning session#the constant reminder that he was continuing to write things on the wall. the way that i was told exactly what he was writing every time#at this point just commission an image of the state of the wall at the end of the meeting

#i started w xan bc i already had a sketch of him to work with#but i'm losing steam and honestly if i have to choose just one of them to finish i would rather have radri 🥺#i'm switching to her the next time i work on this#thankfully though since i drew xan's spellbook i already have a book base to use for radri's journal and copy of the dead three#and since i drew the moonblade i have a base for radri's three swords#so hopefully her items won't take too long to finish

#btw i finally finished sewing the green dress 🎉🎉🎉#it was actually finished like 2 weeks ago but then i decided to sew slip shorts (like slip skirt but shorts) to wear with it so that#the skirt doesn't catch when i wear the dress with tights#then today i decided the modesty extension i made for the button placket was bulky and unnecessary so i removed it#and had to unpick 2 neat lines of stitching from my bias bound center front seam to do so OTL#i had to restitch by hand bc if i wanted to take it to the sewing machine i would've had to basically undo the whole seam...#including the 10 buttons i'd handsewn there...#instead i just unpicked what i had to and clumsily stitched it all up by hand. it's fine no one will see it#anyway now it's finally done. but will i wear it outside? we still just don't know#actually after finishing it i've acquired a new fondness for the original yellow dress LOL i think that one looks better on me#the green dress IS very comfortable though. more comfortable than the yellow one i dare say. very light and airy

I'm in a similar position myself where I was known for one thing and I've been finding it hard to pivot whilst keeping my motivation, it sometimes feels a little pointless and like I don't belong if I'm not drawing something specific for people. for making art, my motivation usually comes from either myself or people's comments/asks/interactions with me, and whenever i switch fandoms i just have to accept that the latter source is gone and i only have myself now. i let myself make less art than before, focus on figuring out what i really want to see, and keep an eye out for oc memes/ship memes/prompt lists for inspo

for posting art, i lower my expectations. i go "i'm my only audience, i expect no one else to care about this post" so any attention it gets becomes an unexpected bonus. it does still feel pointless a lot of the time and there's a bunch of stuff i make that doesn't get cleaned up and posted online because of it, but i prefer it to not posting at all and just letting all my thoughts fester on my local hard drive (which i already did and disliked, years ago, coincidentally when i was obsessed with xan and baldur's gate the first time)

it also helps me to remember how annoyed i was when my art got too much attention, when people would treat my posts as just content for them to consume and treat me as just a machine that makes content. i also used to get pretty annoyed at people misreading/ignoring the ace aspect of my fics, and now that my writing only gets a handful of notes, i don't get that anymore :')

#sovo answers#it's also kind of a quality vs quantity thing where like#sure tons of people liked my ford art. but did they like that *i* drew it? or did they just like that it was art of ford?#it was mostly the latter--and that kind of attention is flattering but it's not fulfilling#so what does it matter that i'm no longer getting that sort of attention now?#i would rather wait for the people who like my art for being *my art*#and posting what i'm interested in and what i want to draw is what will lead to that#--reading that over i'm realizing that's a lot of words just to say ''just be authentic to yourself'' lol#but i hope any of that helps!
