Moving Forward, Spiraling Downward Masterpost

This post will be updated with each chapter that releases so it's easier to keep track of! I'll also keep this linked in a pinned post

Main Fic Summary-

Shane had come to accept that nothing good lasted forever, it's just how it was for his life. But when a night out celebrating his birthday results in the deaths of the two people he loved most in this world, he's left to pick up the pieces and raise a child on his own. The only person who could possibly understand his situation would be his aunt Marnie, but as time goes on, he feels even she doesn't get it.

Going through the motions and going it alone takes a toll on him, a toll that can only be remedied by finally coming home to Pelican Town after all these years. He swore it would change him for the best, it would make everything better! But Shane would soon learn that behind every rock bottom was a deeper, rockier bottom, and he can't climb out alone. He'd have to swallow his pride and learn how to move on, but who knows how long it'll take?

Thank you for reading!

i think people get so used to their own creative work that they forget how amazing it is so i’m making this post as a reminder You are the only person capable of making art the exact way you make it. nobody else on earth can do that. there are always going to be those little habits and intricacies and details that simply cannot be replicated whether it’s in writing or painting or textiles and you make life all the better for it i love my friends’ art i love art from strangers im trying to love my own art I LOVE YOU!!! THE PERSON READING THIS!!!!!!! YOU ARE A PART OF THIS WORLD NEVER EVER STOP MAKING THINGS THAT CAN IMPACT IT

"Moving Forward Spiraling Downward Epilogue- Moving Forward"

WOW I have never been so emotional over uploading something in my life. This fic has been with me since August of last year, and I've met so many great people through writing it. Finishing this is very bittersweet, but I'm happy to have completed such a big project. Thank you all for sticking with me, and thank you for reading.

Summary: Years after the Flower Dance, we get a glimpse into a day of Shane's life, seeing just how much he's grown, and how much has changed with time. Nothing is the same anymore, but that can be a good thing, can it?

"Moving Forward Spiraling Downward Chapter 18- To Be Whole"

So I know what you're going to say. "Moon you're on chapter 24 now, why are you posting chapter 18 again?" and it's because I reworked quite a bit of the first half of the chapter. Lookin back on it, I was *not* happy with how it turned out. In an attempt to balance the two difficult situations going on in this point of the story, I feel like I went too heavy handed on one side to the point some characters were being too insensitive and I really regret that. People can say awful things in moments of stress, but I didn't intend on it being that strong. Some of the dialogue felt like too much, honestly. I added a few lines and changed a few parts that I felt needed it, and I wanted to repost it on Tumblr with the changes too.

Summary: After the harrowing events at the cliffs, Shane finds himself truly working towards a better life. After starting the road to healing and beginning to confront his problems head on, Shane decides to put what he's learning into practice by finally making something right at home.

CWs include- brief mentions of injury, mental health issues, and allusions to the 6 heart event

"Moving Forward Spiraling Downward Chapter 24- Confessions"

Wow, second to last chapter. Honestly it feels weird to be here already, kind of emotional too. This fic has been such a huge project for me, and I'm so proud to see it come to fruition. There's one last chapter before we're done, and I'm so excited for everyone to see it.

Summary: After the disastrous night before the Flower Dance, Shane isn't feeling too eager about the festival. In fact, he's dreading it, and so is Mohle. It's going to take much talking, and open minds, for things to get back to normal... or maybe even change into something better.

ISMHO CH 6: WHAT ARE FRIENDS FOR?

first things first, hi. its been a bit.

anyway, this one was really special to me. writing this allowed me to explore more of star's neurodivergence - particularly something called "rejection sensitive dysphoria" or rsd for short - and i hope it gives you some more insight into him and the sides of neurodivergence that people tend to ignore. being nd is VERY important to both myself & star's character.
i also wanted to touch more on the relationships between the characters and their families & friends, so there are some jojabros are staralex moments in here <3
this one is sort of a.. split screen? chapter. basically there are multiple things happening at once - star's perspective and sam's perspective, separated by the "…" but i think it helps set the scene and how things will move forward.
speaking of moving forward, there is a little easter egg included in here! i mention a character (möhle) and an event that takes place in an awesome writing piece by my pal moona - called "moving forward, spiraling downward" and you can find it on his ao3 (saphiresstars) or their tumblr (spacesapphi). möhle is his character and i take no credit for their story!

summary: several days have passed since the concert and two things remain true: sam has still not talked to sebastian, and he can't stop thinking about a certain freckled blond.

join sam as he gets advice from both his parents (and later his coworker) on how he should handle his budding emotions.

however, things don't look so cheery for our beloved star.

star deals with some inner turmoil and turns to his best friend, alex, for support.

word count: 4589

warnings: no warnings i can think of, except (minor) emetophobia (just the word, no description of the action!)

Hey so if you go on someone's post where they mention they love a character and write in the tags about how much you hate them and talk about how you want to harm the character.... What is your deal?? Genuinely?

Please remember that there are people behind the screen who make these posts and see the tags and comments you add and that shit's uncomfortable. You would not be doing that in an irl conversation, learn how to be kind.
