Hi Acey, I've been on and off with the HL fandom in the past year. I've finished another playthrough today and I found myself rereading your fics once in a while. Idk if you remember but I was the anon that played the piano again after years thanks to your fic. Unfortunately I moved, so no piano, and I broke up recently... so I'm filling my internal void with Omi, Seb and chocolate.

I think it’s been pretty obvious, but I haven’t been active the last few months. I had been struggling with my mental health for quite a while, and came to realize being so heavily involved in fandom wasn’t doing any good for me. So I took a big step back to figure things out. Thankfully, I’m doing a lot better now.
I’ve gotten a couple messages asking if I’m planning on coming back or being active in the fandom again—so I thought I’d make a quick post about it. I so appreciate all of you who have thought about me and messaged me, it means more than you know. I’m so grateful for the friends I’ve made in this fandom. I couldn’t love you all more. That being said, I don’t plan on being heavily involved in the fandom any time soon. I really don’t want to regress to where I was and lose the progress I’ve fought hard to make. But I won’t be gone completely—I’ll be popping on every once in a while to reply to messages.
Lately, I’ve been wanting to finish Safety. If I do do that, it’ll be slow so that I can make sure I’m prioritizing the things in life that I need to. But it’s something I’m proud of and would like to see complete. I cant promise anything, but do know it’s on my mind.
I’d just like to reiterate this: thank you. Thank you for being there when I needed you. Thank you for supporting any work I’ve made and thank you for being such a wonderful group of people. I love you all. This community is filled with some of the most creative and passionate people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, please NEVER stop that.

Poorly constructed headcanon of a doppelganger situation where Ominis has to kill one of two Sebastians because one is an imposter. Both Sebastians are pleading and desperately trying to convince him. Ominis would immediately kill one, and it would be the imposter, and the real Sebastian would be amazed and impressed and grateful.
And Sebastian would be all:
"Oh my God, how did you know?"
And Ominis would just shrug and be like:
"Of course I didn't know. I just wanted one of you to shut the hell up."

Omg that’s literally one of my favorite songs EVER I’m so glad you’ve found some of the same enjoyment of it that I have!!
I actually don’t have a specific Omi playlist—if I were to recommend a few songs I associate with him, I’d say Touch by Sleeping At Last, Family Lines by Conan Gray, and Budding Romance by Carson James Argenna are ones I definitely associate with Ominis!
I DO have a playlist I think captures a lot of the styles I like—it’s for my OC, Layla :3 A lot of these on here are some of my very favorite songs or artists, I can’t recommend them enough!
Life has had a lot of up and downs lately, but I’m trying to be a bit more active on here because I miss y’all <3 thanks so much for the ask, love, and I hope you find something you like here!!

23. Best writing advice for other writers?
I answered this one in another ask but I will pull something out of my ass once again lmao.
Honestly, I hear it often, but I find it so helpful--read your work aloud. Feel the flow of it, where the commas and periods rest, and where they let you breath and break. Get the rhythm of it. This especially helps with dialogue for me; it leads to it being a lot more natural. Feel the words with your mouth, and if you stumble, your character might, too.
25. What fic do you wish you would have gotten more response on?
Honestly, I'm very flattered and grateful for any amount of response I've gotten on any and all of my fics. I don't write for notes or recognition (in fact if someone irl recognized my fics I would die on the spot) and I don't really pay much attention to those sort of things after I publish something.
If I really had to choose one, maybe I'd say A Black Walnut Wand, just because it's something I felt was a unique concept. But really, I am happy if even one person reads something and appreciates it, even silently.
26. Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?
Probably Snow, Scarves, and Schemes, haha. I hadn't written any fics in almost a year, but I found my new hyperfixation, and it had me in a chokehold. I'd never written an outline for a fic. But suddenly, I had so many thoughts and ideas that I had a 4 page outline sitting in front of me, that resulted in a 14k oneshot--by far the longest thing I'd written up to that point (and still the second longest, after Safety.)
The whole thing was honestly so fun because I was just dipping my toes into the fandom and feeling out the characters and things out for myself, and I obviously fell even deeper in love with it all as a result!
I have nothing to say but HELLO SPACEY 😭 I miss you! That's it. That's the message. Take care, and I hope to read more fics from you soon!

6. Do you have your work beta'd? How important is it to your process?
HAHAHAHAHAHA absolutley not. I write something, I copy paste into into a post, I hit publish. I'm a big edit as I go person. Hence why my fics are riddled with spelling errors and other mistakes. But I just write for fun, so I don't mind too much.
23. Best writing advice for other writers?
Oh god I feel unqualified to give advice. I think the best advice I can give (specifically in the sphere of fanfic) is to write the things that make you happy. If it's not something you're passionate about, you don't have to do it. Write things that make you fall in love with your own words, write things that make you grin when you go back and read them. Write things that remind you of why you ever wanted to write in the first place. If what you're working on doesn't make you feel those things, take a step back and ask what you can change to make it that way.
24. Worst writing advice anyone ever gave you?
Not exactly writing advice but one of my college professors said that the semicolon shouldn't exist; I love semicolons. He can pry my semicolons out of my cold, dead hands.
37. How do you choose where to end a chapter?
Uhhhhhh it feels right? For my multi-chapter fics, I have a good idea of where each chapter will end. My chapters are fairly short, around 3k, and I sort of know my writing habits. So I can guess about how much content will fit in that amount of space, and adjust accordingly when needed.
