the thing is, the switch 2 and the first party games on it look decent at worst. they're just handling it so goddamn poorly, and have been for the past few years now, that even a lot of dedicated nintendo fans like me are getting tired of their shit.

the prices are one thing. they're the thing everyone's gonna notice, of course, because everyone's poor and high game prices mean even people who'd still otherwise buy games get driven away, but the prices are only one aspect and worth a whole conversation on their own.

but there are other things too, like the recent focus on online/subscription only features and the even more recent (and remarkably aggressive) push for digital over physical games (disguised as "digital carts" and "game-key cards", for example), or the lack of charm in the switch's menu carrying over not just to the switch 2's menu but to its entire design (even the logo).

I can't possibly list every little thing that could possibly tip someone off, so these are just some of the bigger and more recent examples. but if you do care to look into it more or talk with fans about other things nintendo's been up to, it does seem an awful lot like a downhill trend that's quickly ramping up.
