Most of the time, I lock posts bc they're not polished and it will drive me insane if I find a typo or poorly constructed sentence later and it's too late to fix it bc the post is already out there, but if you ask, I can check it over and make any edits before it goes out lol

In a better world Satoshi Kon would get the level of praise Miyazaki gets but unfortunately Kon's works don't appeal to the "young witch in the alps solving the mystery of her neighbor's missing cat" crowd so we're fucked I guess

Genuinely I wish film circles discussed his work more and treated his death as the tragedy that it is. Losing him at age 46 was an enormous loss.

That so many of the complaints about AI art as something truly horrible and soulless are centered around ghibli-esque AI art specifically is so.... people realize why ghibli-esque AI got so popular in the first place, right? Because well before image generators, there was already a huge mass-market industry of people making "X in ghibli style?"

It's not like that was a golden age of true artistic creativity that's now lost. Are we gonna pretend that the Hot Topic t-shirts of "My Neighbor Heisenberg" or whatever expresses more "soul" than what people are making with AI? Are we supposed to bemoan how the easy-clicks listicle of "the Glee cast if they were in Spirited Away" is being created by an image generator rather than an underpaid staff cartoonist?

Getting excited that it's going to be cloudy today bc that means ideal overcast weather for photographing my sketchbook, but there is also supposed to be freezing rain with ice pellets later today lol

Definitely excited to see what happens with the repotted moonstones leaf prop! Worst-case scenario is that the roots died a long time ago and the plant has been slowly dying from the ground up, in which case, nothing can be done to save it - but I think more likely, it will be like the pilea that exploded with growth and vitality after re-potting, so fingers crossed it will take to the new soil and more growing space, even if the pot is the same one as before.

Finally got around to starting the April calendar for the daily doodles! I decided to switch to the 0.25 version of the Pilot Hi-Tec-C pen for this month, though I don't think it's noticeably finer than the 0.3 version tbh Anyway, since I left this to the last ten minutes of the day, I just drew a quick sketch of the re-potted moonstones leaf prop from memory right after re-potting it lol

I decided to just keep it in the sane smaller pot for now, but the plants are at least now also growing above the pot level, which should hopefully work better in terms of accessing sunlight for photosynthesis.

Okay, I decided that since today is the four year anniversary of when I started this propagation of a moonstones leaf, it seems like the perfect time to actually re-pot the plants in new soil, so here we go!

Happy four year anniversary to the moonstones leaf prop! 🌱

Four years ago, a leaf broke off my moonstones plant, which I tried to propagate by putting on top of some soil in a small pot - and new leaves actually grew out of it, and this is what the new plants look like today! So far, this has still been my only successful propagation.

I definitely need to repot them in new soil though, since they have been growing in the same tiny bit of soil for four years, so the nutrients are gone, and that's probably why the plants remained tiny; they also need to grow above the pot level at this point, and always did tbh

I know the figures in the foreground are out of focus, but the camera on my iPad always does that if the background is intricate and complicated, which stone and other similar materials often are - but usually, I can fix it and switch the focus by tapping on the foreground, yet it didn't work this time, and it was cold outside, so I just accepted it fir what it was and gave up lol

Do other people in the world really believe the genocide is over or that conditions have improved? They began starving the North in March last year and then continued to starve the whole Strip for a year and now they are starving the whole Gaza Strip again this March, in Ramadan.

Genocide is an act of collective punishment and neglect of the most essential life sources.

In reality they began committing genocide against the people of Gaza the day that the siege on Gaza was imposed. What we continue to witness since Oct 7th is only the same genocide accelerated which I will never stop repeating.

Not only that, the murder by aircraft has not stopped. israel's fascist death machines are still hovering and threatening and firing and killing people in their tents, in their damaged homes, in cars, at people trying to rebuild...their thirst for Palestinian blood is literally infinite.

Even if the fire stopped, it would still be genocide. There is no such thing as an israeli ceasefire because they practice murder by freezing and starving and medically neglecting and physically and psychologically torturing Palestinians too.

Love to see Zionists getting thrown out of internet communities. Love to see people shutting down them with "you are a fascist" and refusing to engage further with any comments or explanations and just banning them from any shared spaces.
