Pinned
Endless Days
A rumination
My mother complains about my silly games
but it's never my intention
when I break things like windows or vases or toys
or the geneva convention.
Adults do not make time to play
their world is sad and dull and gray
they go about their day to day
all desperate to be led astray
No one in this dead end town
could ever hope to match me
Says the reaper, "She's a keeper"
But he'll never catch me.
My best friend Maple gets dismayed
By all the world's awful ways
So oftentimes it's up to me
To pull her from her reverie.
"If god is up there in the sky"
My best friend asks, and points on high
"Do you think we'll ever be forgiven
For making heaven hell to live in?"
Sure I could find a million faults
With the broken world of adults
But who cares what tomorrow brings?
I'd rather laugh and dance and sing.
The town that we are living in
is sinking slowly from within
it's built above the devils bed
and filled with nightmares from his head.
None of us are here to stay
We're born, we live, we fade away
How wonderful to be with you
While both of us were passing through
And out from space we must look small
We stare up there and see it all,
And wonder if from way out far
all our speeding cars look like shooting stars.
Cry revolution! Flags unfurled,
at war with this whole boring world
we laugh right in the future's face,
with hearts ablaze in endless days.
