the hate of polyamorous people feels so arbitrary to me. like i know bigotry is irrational but like. you understand the appeal of threesomes and foursomes but you can't respect when people love multiple people. even though you have multiple friends. there's gunk in your brain

I'd love to romanticize signs of old age. Not bc you need to find certain traits beautiful or appealing for them to matter or to be valid in having them but bc they're demonized so much that I'm sure it would help a ton. I genuinely just don't want aesthetic traits to be hated or a source of hatred for anyone. I think all traits can be unique, cool and charming. I like the fact that people can look so many ways in their bodies and faces.

Yeah it's important to remember that the goal isn't to be attractive but that can and should include the fact that anything can be found attractive regardless of societal norms. Attractiveness shouldn't be as polarized as it is, but obviously it's always a plus if someone feels more attractive in their imperfections. Like yes your advocacy should go beyond finding something appealing bc we shouldn't judge morality based on how externally appealing something is. But I think romanticizing the unloved parts of humanity is a great tool for dismantling this mentality/system of beauty standards

My body is not disabled to spite me because my body is not capable of spite

My body is not hurting me, it is my body that is hurting (and I am my body)

Things arenโ€™t great right now, but small things (like the view from my window) can bring me comfort

in case you need to hear this

workout because its good for your heart, lungs, releases endorphins, and you want to get stronger. not because itโ€™ll make you skinny or make your body look a certain way.

wear sunscreen every day in order to protect yourself from easily preventable and deadly skin cancer, not with the goal of preventing aging (there is nothing wrong with aging or wrinkles; it is a natural part of life and reflection of the life you live).

eat more vegetables because you need the fiber to make you more regular, they help lower your risk of eye and digestive problems, and they help in nutrient re-uptake. not because eating only carbs isย โ€œbadโ€ for you. you need a combination of carbs, fruit/veg, protein, fiber, fat, etc for a full balanced diet.ย

cut out dairy from your diet if it makes you shit your brains out every single time without fail, not because it willย โ€œmake you fatโ€.

drink more water because, despite how annoying it is to be toldย โ€œjust drink waterโ€, it does actually make you feel better if youโ€™re anxious or your head hurts or you donโ€™t have any energy. not because itโ€™llย โ€œflush out your immune system uwuโ€ or it will make your skin clear.

drink green tea because its delicious, not because itโ€™s aย โ€œnatural detoxโ€. (ย โ€œdetoxesโ€ arenโ€™t real. your kidneys detoxify your blood for you)

not everythingย โ€œnaturalโ€ is automatically healthy for you. not everythingย โ€œunnaturalโ€ is automatically unhealthy/dangerous

cutting out whole food groups and labeling them asย โ€œbad for youโ€ in any form is restrictive. if you arenโ€™t allergic to gluten, you donโ€™t need to cut gluten from your diet in order to be healthy. if you were not specifically instructed by a doctor to go keto in order to aid treatment for a disease (such as cancer or epilepsy), you do not and should not go keto.ย

doย โ€œhealthyโ€ things because you deserve to live a long, healthy life. yes, you. your weight doesnโ€™t matter and it has never mattered. you deserve to keep yourself safe.ย

one of the recent ways Iโ€™ve tried to reframe body neutrality, especially towards visible parts of my body is โ€˜signs my body has been lived in.โ€™ Like yeah, I may not like my scars or my crooked fingers or other signs that remind me of bad days or periods in my life, but theyโ€™re evidence my body has been lived in. They donโ€™t have to teach me a lesson or be proof of overcoming parts of my life if I donโ€™t want them to. They can just be proof of messy existence.

This is literally the most heart warming story I have read on Twitter so far. I think this is exactly what friends should do, and I feel everyone deserves people like this.

A barn rasing:ย  a collective action of a community, in which a barn for one of the members is built or rebuilt collectively by members of the community.

because you cannot, you CANNOT, build a barn on your own, and without it, you will not be able to survive.ย

What a fuckinโ€™ gem of a sentence.ย โ€œWhat we did today was a barn rasinโ€ย

This just made me cry. Iโ€™m at a point in my life where I may need to ask for a barn raisinโ€™, and this is just so beautiful.

scientists are in labs right now creating the thinnest and worst material known to mankind so they can make womenโ€™s clothing

Quote from the article

The resulting โ€œnanopastaโ€ can then be spun into a tiny mat about 2 centimetres across. While it isnโ€™t intended as food, Clancy says that it should be safe to eat, but is reticent to talk about having tried it. โ€œItโ€™s an ethical quandary to talk about scientific self-experimentation,โ€ he says. โ€œBut, hypothetically, one might expect it to be chewier than youโ€™d expect.โ€

Oh he's definitely eating it
