From future teacher to homeless person 💔

My story and hope for survival😭

I am Israa Alwan, a young woman who once had big dreams and was ready to achieve them. After years of hard work and study, I finally received my degree in Early Childhood Education. It was an indescribable joy, knowing I was about to start my journey as a teacher, to help shape young minds and walk alongside them in their first steps toward knowledge.

But my dream didn’t last. The war came and turned my life upside down. My home, which was once a safe haven, is now rubble, and I am left with only a few belongings and a shattered bag of dreams. Now, I am without a home, a job, or any sense of security. I move from place to place with my family, searching for a shelter to protect our children and the sick from the cold winter and the scorching summer.

My brother Shadi, who has always been my strength and support, now bears the heavy responsibility of caring for our entire family, doing everything he can to protect us and provide us with the bare essentials, despite the harsh conditions😭😭😭

Today, I reach out to you, driven by a shared humanity, seeking your support to help us survive and find a way out of this life that was forced upon us.

An episode of Star Trek where Spock becomes "100% human" could have been good. As long as you remember the difference between biology and culture. A Spock who has suddenly became human would still have grown up Vulcan and would still follow their practices. He would not suddenly be emotional and he would not be eating meat.

But there are a lot of differences between Vulcans and humans that you could focus on! He could have trouble adapting to how much weaker his body is. Spock rushing into dangerous situations because he is the toughest is so common so now you could have him do that but then be like oh fuck. You could have him not realizing that he need to drink, eat and sleep more and be driving his body to the breaking point. The fact that he suddenly has sweat glands could be super unpleasant and he could overheat. I think he should definitely struggle with no longer being telepathic. Maybe it makes it harder for him to understand other people or maybe it makes it harder for him to understand his own thoughts. There could be stuff about how his eyesight is worse and he is constantly squinting and messing up colors.

There is literally so much that could be done with this concept and I don't think that it is an inherently bad one. I just don't think the way to do it is to make it so Spock is a complete different person who has no idea how Vulcans work (and needs to be taught what Vulcans are like???) and no control over his emotions. And I definitely don't think it is the right call to make the crew like Spock more when he is human.

Like wise an episode about how the rest of the crew are suddenly Vulcan could be good but it looks like it will fall into the same trap. A human who just suddenly turned into a Vulcan would not have the cultural history and upbringing to act like the Vulcans we normally see. They would not know how to control their emotions or telepathy. They would still be acting like humans. If anything a human turned Vulcan should be incredibly destructive.

Hello 😇👋,

I hope you're well. My brother Osama and our family are struggling due to the ongoing war in Gaza. Osama's life and work have been devastated, and he’s working hard to rebuild and support our family.

Osama has started a GoFundMe campaign, "Helping Osama Rebuild His Dream." Your support would mean a lot to him and to us. Please consider checking it out, sharing, or donating.

I find it adorable how in SNW it's apparent that spock gets invited to girls' night out frequently, and he just sits there with them at the bar with his glass of luke warm water listening to them tell stories he absolutely doesn't understand, but he seems to enjoy being there nonetheless.

And it is also like a cute little continuety thing with TOS that tells us why he's so comfortable and friendly with Uhura, playing the lyre as she sings and allowing her to flirt with him in a friendly way.

it's one of my favorite things too! and i wrote it :)

this is your thanksgiving reminder that the chinook tribe is still fighting for federal recognition, which means they are unable to access programs and resources. please take some time today to sign their petition and donate if you’re able to. and if you live in washington or oregon please write to your elected officials.

and another reminder that the quileute tribe (the very real tribe that was featured in twilight and received no compensation) is still located in a tsunami zone and is trying to move to higher ground. please consider donating.

Yeah... Peck know's what he's doing by saying that

let me emphasize that during Trek to Dallas this past weekend, I pointed at the Spock photo with *that* lighting and said, "That is very bisexual lighting, perfect for Spock," and lOOKED AT ETHAN AND HE GRINNED IN RESPONSE, OKAY. Then I followed that by saying, "By the way, when are we getting Spock in eye shadow?" AND ETHAN REPLIED: "I'M WAITING ON THAT TOO." And he looked so genuinely pleased by this. I almost shrieked.

I think Peck and Wesley are on board with queering up these characters... it's just the writer's room blocking the way.

OK, Love this response. Hoping we get the blue eyeshadow because it wasn't in S1 EP10 when he normally would be wearing it. Also, I doubt it's the writers blocking it. My guess would be paramount.

the studio definitely has say of course, but i lay most of the blame on the showrunners because *good grief* are they forcing a comphet Spock on us
