Found in an elevator near where I work. Not giving the city name, but I wanted to take a pic because like... It's not a super conservative area. But I fully expect it to be taken down within the next few hours. It may be considered inflammatory, and perhaps you could make a case for that.
But if the truth is inflammatory, don't we have an obligation to confront it all the same? You could argue that we have an even stronger obligation in the event that the truth is something that's controversial.
That's not to say I'm typically the sort of person who goes "well, the truth hurts, deal with it" or "I'm brutally honest, and if you can't deal with that, that's your problem."
But the thing is, fascists are gonna fash. They just are. Being nice to them and trying to reason with them can work some of the time. If someone walks away from being a supporter of fascism, that's great. But it's not my job to be sweet to people who actively hate me, people like me, and others who are simply trying to live their lives. The fascists have made their hatred our problem, and it pisses me off. It should piss you off, too.
That's not to say I want people to get violent. Here's the thing: I'm pretty sure Trump and his people are doing this shit on purpose. They want to piss enough people off that there will be riots in the streets. Then he'll use that as a pretext to declare martial law.
I know people are hurting and angry. I know that. I am, too. But you do not want martial law. Things can go from pretty bad to devastating real fucking quick.
Be smart out there. Make your voice heard, but make smart choices. Do not give them a reason to arrest you, because they will do it. If you do get arrested, your first call is to a lawyer or someone who will get you one.
Be safe out there, everyone ๐๐๐
WAIT
I JUST REMEMBERED HEARING AN ELON MUSK QUOTE WHERE HE TALKS ABOUT HOW HE BELIEVES CHESS IS "TOO SIMPLE" OR WHATEVER AND HE SAID HIS FAVORITE GAME WAS A GAME CALLED "POLYTOPIA"
I JUST REMEMBERED THAT IVE PLAYED POLYTOPIA
It being Elon's favorite game (or at least one so important to him that his biographer dedicates a lot of time to it) is.....really really funny.
Basically, imagine Civilization, but as a mobile game. So like if Civilization Revolution was even more dumbed down (that's a Civilization insult. That's devastating. It's devastated right now). For what it's worth, it's not a bad game. On the contrary, from what I could tell in the little bit of time I played it, it's a perfectly competent game with good design. But it's not a deep game by any means. I played through it once, won easily on my first go, then saw that the other playable characters had barely any differences between them.
Like, not to imply you can judge a book by its cover, but here's what it looks like
I came across an article by Dave Karpf discussing this exact thing, and I think it describes it wonderfully
Trump is 'steering the Titanic towards the iceberg,' says CNBC reporter
โThe Titanic hit an iceberg by accident. This is the equivalent of steering the Titanic towards the iceberg,โ says CNBCโs Steve Liesman on Trump's tariffs mess.ย
What part of Trump's 6 BANKRUPTCIES (of CASINOS no less) did Trump voters not understand?
I'm sorry but there was ZERO excuse for anyone to have voted for this nasty, bullying, racist, sexist, egotistical, would-be dictator, ESPECIALLY if the excuse used was that he would be good for the economy.
Tomorrow April 5th there's going to be protests all across America, people are going to meet up at statehouses and protest the orange fuck and elon musk. Please look into the time for your local protest because I'm not sure it's the same in every state. Please try to show up, as many as people possible, and if you can't go, please don't feel guilty. If this doesn't go the way as planned, it was not solely because you alone didn't show up. I promise. If you do go, please remember this:
Anyone who can't come, but especially disabled people who can't come, do. not. blame yourself. This is not your fault. Whatever happens it's not your fault.
Do NOT get violent under any circumstances.
If you see someone ready to throw a brick or something similar, they are not your ally. That person may be an undercover cop or someone paid to cause a disturbance.
Thatโs all the police needs to start attacking the people at these protests and arrest people.
Itโs what Trump needs to declare martial law, if there is civil unrest.
They are going to twist what these protests are for and what is happening at them. Do not give them anything to work with.
Stay peaceful and stay safe. Good luck!
I hope I'm not just a guy you follow but also someone on your dash who remained consistent in their principles like "the death penalty is wrong" and "democracy having flaws doesn't mean dictatorship is the answer" and never gave in to growing reactionism among leftists and is willing to do the hard complicated things that feel a bit icky but are entirely necessary to protect our rights and freedoms and knows when to prioritize pragmatism over what feels right
"it's all in your head" correct! unfortunately I am also in there
i found a baby picture of my cat please please look at him i'm begging you

HEY, FELLOW HATERS OF INSANELY-BRIGHT CAR HEADLIGHTS, SOMEONE HAS STARTED A PETITION TO REGULATE THEM.
It's an official petition through the Australian Government's e-petition page, which means if it gets enough signatures, it will be tabled in government.
You do have to be an Australian citizen to sign it, BUT!!! PLEASE REBLOG THIS EVEN IF YOURE NOT, because these kind of things have a roll-on effect, and if Australia legislates LED headlights, then other countries may follow.
FYI, the petition asks only for your name and email, and once you've clicked the sign button, they'll send you an email to confirm your signature --- you need to click the confirmation link in the email to have your signature counted.
On the bottom it does say you have to be a resident or citizen of Australia, BUT PLEASE AUSTRALIANS SIGN THIS
LED HEADLIGHTS ARE A HAZARD
