What are the haps, my hip young parsons? Got some classic Sonic for you all this fine Wednesday!
This loop strongly reminds me of credits music, for some reason. I think it’s the way that the melody reaches a high point in the second bar of the loop (not including those three quarter notes at the beginning, that’s just a pickup bar); the “sol-la-te-la” riff has that sort of characteristic to it. I like the fairly simplistic bass, I like the mild comping in the background, and I love the percussion track! All those put together, even though simple by themselves, act as a really nice foundation for the melody. The beginning melody has a nice tone to it, whereas the second half of the melody uses a different wave form (triangle maybe?). Along with that, it’s a little busier, which adds a nice contrast. I like how the chord progression climbs up as well in that second half, the II- really solidifying that aspect coming from I. There are little auxiliary things in the second half as well, that sound like distorted triangle hits or…shooting stars oh my goodness. It has a latent disco feel to it, and man, don’t I love that disco groove. The more I listen to this one, the more it grows on me. Sweet!
