My biggest advice to start would be to look for colour palette inspiration in other art, photos, any kind of images. Look for something that fits the vibes you're going for and lean on that for reference. As you do this more and more, you'll learn what colour combos you like and suit your art!
I have a few favourite colour schemes I use over and over, other than that my colours are usually based on the emotions of the piece with a touch of gradient maps and overlays to help the colours harmonise.
