well I think the day after lubbockgate buck skipped into work at the 118 with a big cheesy grin on his face. hen says morning buck ☕️👀 and buck says morning 🤗🥰 what are you in the mood for for breakfast? eggs? pancakes? bacon? why dont I make us a fresh fruit salad too 😄🥰 and hen says okay what has you in such a good mood this is our 3rd shift in 4 days somehow😴… and buck (now covered in flour from mixing the pancake mix too excitedly) says chris HATES chess🤩 !!!! and chim says wait didn’t chris have some big chess tournament this weekend 🤨 and buck is like yeah 😄 and eddie pulled him out of it 🤩 and told chris hes moving back in with eddie whether he likes it or not 🥹 so now eddie and chris are living together again 🥰💓😍 and then bobby walks up to buck and claps him on the shoulder and says congratulations buck, im really happy for you guys. and buck short circuits like uhh well I mean um. 🫠😧. that was all eddie I had nothing to do with it 😅 I mean. actually he said he would call me after he drops chris off at school (ravi voice in the distance: oh Im sure …) so you should just wait and say that to him 🫡 no need to congratulate me haha 😀 and in that moment eddie calls and buck picks up and eddie says buck! Its 7 am there why are you covered in flour already🙄❤️! and buck says we’re having celebration breakfast for you and chris !!! and everyone jumps in to say congrats. and eddie just says. of course you told everyone already 🥹💞 and buck just says sorry I couldnt keep it to myself 😔❤️ but I didnt tell them about your dad’s bus ride home you should tell that story again … 😋🥰🤩💞🤤

still thinking about how steady and sure and confident eddie is when 1) he knows what he wants, and 2) he knows he can have it. once he talked with chris and knew he wasn't really as happy as everyone thought he was, it was so EASY for him to march back into the lion's den and pack up all his stuff and not let a single thing his mom tried to throw at him drag him down. and of course i am also thinking about how this confidence will translate to buck once they're back home and eddie realizes 1) he's in love with him, and wants to be with him, and 2) he can have that, because buck wants to be with him too. and it's gonna be the easiest thing in the world to reach out and take it.

i can't believe buck and eddie are adding "long distance relationship" to the list of couple things they did before even getting together. they really can do it all.

sorry boss can't come in today i was on my way to work and then a gentle spring breeze kissed my cheek and reminded me it is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in this broken world

the tsunami arc is literally the blueprint of fatherhood for buck. he jumped in the water even if it meant he might die. he never stopped fighting. he never stopped searching. he failed. he felt like he failed. and then there was chris on the other end, remembering buck as his savior. and eddie on the other end, trusting buck with his child, the love of his life. genuinely the first person to ever put his faith in buck like that and it was when he was at his lowest, when eddie was at his lowest. literally. i've failed that kid more times than i care to count and i'm his father but i love him enough to never stop trying and i know you do too. there is nobody in this world i trust with my son more than you. thank you for not giving up. <- buck took this to heart. and in reflecting it right back at eddie he was a pillar in eddie's journey to not only repairing things with chris but learning to trust HIMSELF after a perceived failure. they are partners forever and it really started with eddie letting himself in ...

also. helena bringing eddie down for "ending up" an uber driver as if he wasn't a celebrated and decorated firefighter who only had to leave that job because he was desperate to provide for his son who SHE took halfway across the country and away from the vibrant and established life they had built together without an ounce of effort to reunite them
