As Scott had predicted, Kevin and Brooklyn's relationship improved. They weren't constantly trading snide remarks, the contention was gone. It was a welcome relief, Scott no longer felt the anxiety he’d had knowing Kevin would stop by.
He honestly didn't mind nor felt any jealousy over what had happened, Brooklyn hadn’t been explicit with details, but he knew enough to get the gist of the date. Kevin had let some details slip as well. Scott had never been much of a jealous guy and Brooklyn still had quite the appetite for him. He didn’t feel threatened and if anything…a pinch hitter wouldn’t have been a terrible idea in the first place.
Kevin came over more often now that he wasn’t irritated or menaced by Brooklyn’s presence. He didn’t seek her out or seem to make it a point to see her - but clearly felt comfortable enough to spend more time around Scott, which he was thankful for.

- He'd overanalyze every reaction from you, his flirting sometimes going over the top and his insecurity might show, too.
- But with every shy smile and flirty laugh, he'd count as a win. And he'd get more bold each time.
- Eventually, he'll make a real move and it'd leave you speechless and breathless.

Real glimpses were few and far between. He may be a monster among men when he’s at work or with fans… but with you, that doesn’t stick. In a heartbeat, you’d say not to get you wrong! He’s still giant and intimidating when he walks around dark corners. When he suddenly appeared behind you at the bar that one night and scared away the guy that was harassing you. But a monster as big as him is also just more human to curl up with.
You had gotten to know him better while he was taking some time away. The sweet cuddling sessions. Pizza eating contests. (You usually lost.) And that concert you went to when you got to sit on his shoulders for the best view. Now that time was coming to an end.

Max couldn’t take his eyes off of you. This was the first year you’d been able to participate with his family’s Hanukkah celebrations at his parent’s house. But here, you had a patience that made his chest tight.
What got him the most, though, was the candle lighting.
